[q]OTOH, when is the last time you didnt defend cornell? Just wondering.[/q]Well, we do rip on the Athletic Department policies often enough.  But RichS is right, most folks here do reflexively defend the hockey team and coaching staff.  Not a surprise and not unreasonable.  (Aside: I wonder what this board would've looked like during the 92-93 season?  Hope we never get a chance to find out...)

That's not accurate.  I've been very critical of Clarkson's play as well as the administration (re: the Morris situation, most notably!)  I do defend my alma mater when appropriate....you object  to that?

OTOH, when is the last time you didnt defend cornell?  Just wondering.[/q]You may claim to be critical of Clarkson, but you do happen to pop in whenever anybody on this board has anything negative to say about them, or about Potsdam, whether or not that slight might render your defense inappropriate.

If you'd like an example of me not defending Cornell, perhaps you might take a look at this post on USCHO, in a thread called "Showdown In the Rockies for the King of College Hockey."

Yeah, but that's one out of like 16,000 posts. :-} Although to be fair, you were drunk for about 10,000 of them. :-D

What I want to know is how Josh could possibly pile up 16000+ posts on USCHO!  And we thought Bill H. was wordy :-D

Many of the digs at Potsdam here are inaccurate and show ignorance of the North Country.  Like it or not, the area has a warm place in my heart and always will much as I imagine Ithaca does for cornellians.

I find it ironic that you folks slam Potsdam all the time while Ithaca is hardly the garden spot of Upstate New York.  I've been familiar with Ithaca nearly all my life.

If critcizing me for defending my alma mater is the worst thing one says about me, hey, I can live with that.  The reference to your not defending cornell on uscho strikes me as weak.  All you said is that cornell is not one of the two best teams currently, in college hockey.  Big deal.

I was far less "defending" of the Clarkson administration for their handling of the Morris affair, in fact I was downright critical and I knew a lot of facts to support that.  As an alumnus, I'm still critical of the institution at appropriate times.  You say I only "claim" to be critical.  You obviously do not know thefacts.

And what's wrong with my defending Clarkson at other times, or the hockey team when some people here take inane digs at them?  On the old Clarkson Roundtable a few years back, more than one big red fan did exactly that in a far more hostile manner.  Did I agree with them?  In some cases, I did not like their style but I supported their right to post there.  Most of you guys get your dander up pretty much anytime anyone, even a fellow cornellian is critical of your team.  Perhaps you should look in the mirror before you fire at others.

You seem a bit miffed at my presence, reference your comment that my defenses are "inappropriate" and rendered so by some "slight".  Interesting.

Rich you know we love you here ... a spirited give-and-take never hurt anyone, as long as it's not taken too seriously/personally. as i think Greg has said in the past, all digs at potsdam/clarkson/etc are made with tongue planted firmly in cheek. so with that in mind, maybe we'll see you in a few weeks at Lynah.:-)
Let's GO Red!!!

I only remember one Big Red fan who was really obnoxious over there.  RichH and I were certainly good-natured.

I'm glad to have you around, but perhaps you should try to post more rather than less.  Folks like ursaminor and Mark from BU don't inspire nearly the reaction you do, presumably because they post on a variety of topics and not just to come to the defense of their almae matres.

RichS

Jon,

By no means was I inferring that you were obnoxious on the old Forum   I recall a couple of your brethren though who were.   People will react the way they want to, regardless of how much I post.  That said, I did post more in the past but last year and this year, with committments to high school and youth coaching, I rarely even get to see or listen to a college game.  I hope to catch up as the playoffs begin.

So posting less, because I have not been up to speed, seems appropriate.  If I "inspire" reaction, well, perhaps it's because I'm responding (defensively or otherwise) to some of that tongue in cheek needling.   If one initiates that stuff, you have to expect to get it in return.  Some folks here just don't seem to get that.   :-D

And no, Ben, I doubt you'll see me in Ithaca anytime soon, much as I'd like to get there, what with Spring hockey starting soon for my Peewees and Bantams.   It will take a minor miracle for Tech to get to Albany.
