Cornell came back from a 20-7 deficit in the second half to beat Columbia 32-26.

3 touchdowns in the 4th qtr with DJ Busch at QB tied the game at 26.  (CU was not able to convert on some of the PAT's.)  With about 30 seconds left at around Colmubia's 35(?), Busch connected to Romney who scooted up the sidelines for the 4th TD of the half.  CU then missed the PAT with their freshman place kicker, as MacMeekin was injury on the previous blocked PAT that alomost resulted in a Columbia TD!  I was listening to the second half out of one ear, and Barry Leonard's ranting after the 3rd TD got my attention.  Sorry the details are a little sketchy.  This is obviously a huge vistory for the Bid Red.

Cornell wins the unoffical Empire Bowl! (for those who don't know, that's for the Ivy League Championship of New York State).  I gather that the pre-game festivities were terrific.  It must be a great scene post-game as well.

The score was 26-7 with less than 10 minutes left to play.  It would have been easy enough to go through the motions, so here's to a Cornell football team that never quit and earned a great win.  I'm sure people will say "it's only Columbia," but it's a Columbia team that lost in OT to Princeton and had Penn on the ropes to the very end.   A game like this can mean much more to a team and a program than just a "W" on the schedule.

It didn't hurt that the Columbia coach felt the need to keep putting the ball in the air, up 3 touchdowns.

Great game!  Winning Ivy season.  Not too shabby for Knowles' first year.

Beat Penn next week, and they tie for second in the league.  Lose, and they are no worse than tied for third, depending the Sucks-Yale game, with sole possession of third being more likely.
