vermont the surprise of the weekend, tying #9 umass 5-5 after knocking off mankato.

hopefully, we can exploit vermonts ooc success (for pairwise purposes).  of course, we did help ourselves this weekend with 2 quality ooc wins, though our early season ooc problems will probably come back to haunt us come march.

yes, i think that beating mercyhurst would have been huge considering who they have beaten. i also did not like the quote in the tourney previews that said something about cornell not having a shot at an at large bid. considering that there are 16 slots . . . but u never know

#10 st cloud beat unranked providence 6-1
more importantly (though we won't feel it in the polls), #4 wisconsin's 15-game unbeaten streak ended with a 3-1 loss to unranked ferris bueller state
unsure about the denver game.

excellent showing for cornell. however, very poor tournament season for the ecac, unfortunately. including last week's tournament with princeton, our league went 4-11-5, with one more game left (rpi vs. colgate ironically) tomorrow. so the best record the ecac can get is 5-12-5. on top of that, 2 of those 4 wins are ours.
i guess it's bad luck that so many ecac teams played each other, but it seems like dartmouth (no surprise) and vermont (big surprise) are the only teams besides us getting our conference any ooc respect, and to say that we get any respect is a contentious topic. sucky weekend for harvard and embarrassing for brown (<-- which is right where we wanna be going into harvard brown weekend!)

Wisconsin just lost to Ferris State, 3-1.  This ended a 15 game non-losing streak for Wisconsin.

And Denver is up 6-3 on Nebraska-Omaha early in the 3rd.

Excerpt from Boston Globe article re Harvard - St. Cloud game:

"Mazzoleni stacked his No. 1 line and it paid off. He placed Cavanagh between Tim Pettit (1 goal, 1 assist) and Tyler Kolarik (two assists) and they were dangerous. He'd kept them apart in an effort to produce balanced scoring.

"Maybe I should have them play together and have the other three lines trap," said Mazzoleni."

Sounds like something said out of frustration. Hell, I'm frustrated with Harvard's performance.
