Ticket line preference poll/any updates with administration?

In all seriousness, the current line system is the best. Gen admission and a lottery won't reward the Faithful. That being said, it just needs to be improved by strictly policing the line and preventing facetimers from cutting, and allowing students to line up early (aka don't threaten in writing that you may lose your season tix if you show up early, and then look the other way when people show up). Those are the 2 biggest problems that need to be fixed. When they are fixed, the line will be a good system.

Any updates with whatever correspondence people have had with the ticket office/coach/athletic director? Any feedback, etc? I've been a bit busy with work the past few days but I'm gonna try to write a letter to them soon.

I have no updates, but I just want to state my agreement with your statement that the current system is the best so long as it is readily enforced.  Even if the early, unofficial line is left to become the 'official' line, I don't think I'd have such a problem with it so long as the cutting was prevented, something which can only be done by having more manpower (Athletics staff, rent-a-cops, whatever) strictly policing and watching the line.

Is next year here yet?

Sorry, but I don't think the current system is reasonable and it is certainly not enforceable.  How do you expect 2000 people to just show up at a given time and not have chaos?

Also, it is no good for an unofficial line to become an offical one unless you say that that's going to happen (so it might as well just be official).

As I see it there are only really two options that are "fair":  randomish lottery or a variant on "tickets go on sale at 5 pm" where there are line numbers and number checks and you can hold numbers for x people (where x is a reasonably small number).

Methods that involve who can force their way to the front / who sprints the fastest / who can pay the most are insane.  Personally I benefitted from the semi-random lottery my first season, but it clearly doesn't select the Faithful from the rest of the pack... I was a newbie at that time (and Faithful since).

I think we have semi-different interpretations of the "current system". My definition for it isn't necessarily exactly what happened this year, just the concept of lines, line numbers, random line number checks in general. What happened this year was a failure of the system because of the cutting and the controversy over starting time, etc.

Sorry, I think I did misunderstand you.  I'd say, however, that end times, and not start times, are a better way to go.

And I still think there is no excuse for them not just going down the "line" immediately and handing out line numbers.  When they made us line up for the 00-01 tix and then we had to file through the door before getting our numbers I remember jumping back from what I would estimate as 300 to about 600 due to line "expansion".  Less policing would have been required if they just did the number handouts before checking IDs.  Then check id's at the door and throw out those line numbers that don't meet ID requirements.

Uh-oh, I am restarting a topic that seemed to have calmed down, I think.  Is it thread drift too?
