The Cornell Club of Boston invites all alumni from Boston and from anywhere to join us Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Agora Restaurant in the Westin Hotel for breakfast.  The regular menu will be offered and it will work on a pay for what you order system.  The Westin Hotel is one block from the Dunkin Donuts arena.  When/If the team advances to Sunday's regional championship game, come back for breakfast again between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Directions:  From Boston, take 93 south to 95 south to exit 22A (Downtown Providence).  Turn right at the second set of lights and right again at the next set of lights to the hotel.  Parking is available at the hotel, Providence Place Mall and many other places around town.

For those not making the trip to Providence who wish to gather to watch the game on television, see John Beaber's Gathering in Boston thread.  Since the regional is so close and the games are not being shown on NESN, we didn't make such a contingency plan.

IS the Big Dig grand opening going to make it a pain to drive from Fleetcenter area to Providence both days this weekend? Should I just take the commuter rail? Anyone in the know?

Tom Pasniewski 98

Probably not from the FleetCenter area to Providence but definitely on the way back.  The advisory does call for avoiding I-93 in downtown Boston for the entire weekend but it's northbound that's affected.  Personally I plan to drive the highway one last time on the way back from Providence on Saturday just for old time sakes.  Call me sentimental.  The southbound side will still exist for another year above ground.  If you're not familiar with alternate routes to avoid 93 in downtown Boston, e-mail me.

Oh and The Sports Depot in Allston (intersection of North Harvard Street and Cambridge Street) if you want to watch the game on television for some reason that you can't make it to Providence.

You do know that I-93 northbouond above ground is only going to be one lane this weekend, right?  Sentiment or not, I wouldn't go anywhere near downtown in a car this weekend... ::worry::  ::worry::  ::worry::

Well it's not like I was planning to do it at Noon on a Saturday afternoon.

Sentimental?, I'll call you psycho, or at least masochistic. There is nothing sentimental about Boston traffic, all it gives me is a big headache, and I'll be glad to see it go. Now, on to finding a way to avoid I93 and get to downtown Boston around 6 Pm on Saturday night.

I walk to work so I do my part to keep my car off the road during rush hour.  Anyway, as for directions take 1-95 north out of Providence.  In MA where I-95/Rte. 128 and I-93 split, take 95/128 north to the Mass. Pike (exit 24).  Take the Mass. Pike east to Exit 18 (Allston/Brighton/Cambridge).  Stay right and follow the signs for Cambridge.  At the third light which comes very fast (just past the Doubletree hotel and Scullers Jazz Club), turn right on to Storrow Drive.  If you've crossed the river, you've gone too far.  Take Storrow Drive to exits for Kenmore Square, Copley Square (for Back Bay), Government Center (for downtown) or to the end for the Fleet Center area.
