ENG goal, BC, 5-3, :50 left - but an amazing one in its own way

BC, killing the penalty, shot it down the ice, 6x4, and missed the goal by a couple feet, and despite being two players shy, the BC player gets to the puck first and puts it in... and it wasn't even particularly close. Wow.
I said it to a couple of my friends, but I'll say it here, too:  I think that's what makes BC a champion-caliber team.

Given two very solid teams (as we had last night), the one that tends to win championships is the one that knows it's not over till it's over.  If BC hadn't hauled ass to get that goal, which at the time looked like just gravy, the UND goal would have taken the game to OT.  BC knew that 1 goal wasn't enough even when there's only a minute left, and UND didn't know that -- that's why BC's going to be on the ice Saturday, and UND'll be watching.

Anyway, it was a great game for both teams, and very exciting to watch.

I suspect the UND players may have initially thought that it was going to be icing and saw no need to hurry for the puck.   There's no excuse for such a mental mistake (if it was that) in a NCAA playoff game.    But, if they thought that for only a split-second, it was enough delay to lose the race for the puck.   A heads-up play by BC in a great hockey game (that they deserved to win).
