Quote from: chimpfoodHow on earth do you register on fanlax? I've tried to to make an account multiple times but the confirmation question says "Paul and Gary's last name. 4 letters." I've tried putting random stuff but it says invalid answer. I don't think I'm a robot but I cannot decipher what that means

This is hysterical!  Not making fun of chimpfood; rather the notion that Gait is a magic password.  I bet there are a lot of lax fans who wouldn't know how to spell it.... I mean, how about "Gate" if you never saw the written word?

Agreed. Amazingly myopic (and reverse-ageist) attempt at gatekeeping. Really one of the funniest lax-related things I've heard in a while.
Shouldn't that be gaitkeeping::rolleyes::

I fully expect us to make it to the frozen four. This team is playing with a mission
Shhhh.

I don't believe in jinxes. I'm not that powerful. If they don't make it, it won't be because of anything I did.

True, but if we've learned nothing else here in the pages of eLynah this season is the poisonous nature of high expectations.
ok.  I will just root for Schafer to finish with a winning record in NCAA tournament games.::whistle::

Can the ECAC get two bids, that is, can Q stay in the top 13 with a loss?

Well said.

Nail Rand in a pine box and then bring on the Final.

I disagree completely.  At the start of the year, especially after the first two wins vs. NoDak, most were not thinking that the only way into the NCAA tournament was the autobid.

Quote from: chimpfoodPart of it might be that they don't want to do a return trip but I believe Penn/princeton got Duke/UNC for home and home weekends this year and last so it's not like they won't come to ivies. Part of it is also probably just the travel. Look at the Richmond game this year, we went south and almost lost to a much worse team.
Yeah. Going to, say, Princeton or Penn isn't as In The Middle Of Nowhere as Ithaca. That's an additional 4+ hours of driving one way.

Penn and Princeton have gone south for two years in a row. There has not yet been any reciprocity.

Thanks for the shout - got both games. I'll give general updates on MinnD/SHU but I'll probably mostly watch that for the joy of puck. In my Cornell jersey, of course.
i have to ask, since i think you said you are from europe, which country sparked the joy of hockey (since i always mentally default to continental europe when i hear that but should probably be thinking scandanavia/eastern).
My mom's side of the family is entirely Polish, which is... probably the one country in eastern Europe that's bad at hockey. LOL. My dad's side is American though.
Does "American" mean from a Native American tribe, or rather that they have forgotten where they came from?

And even when free news does the story, nobody reads it.

At 184, the ref ruled that Hale had reversed back over Foca (which is why Foca was down on the restart), but Hale did not realize it, and got penalized for locking hands which he is allowed to do in the neutral position, but not when he is on top.

Ugarte, Thanks for your excellent coverage.

Someone talk me out of doing the MLax-WIH-MIH triple header. Please.
the only way i would talk you out of this is to say "go to the basketball game instead of lacrosse. it is indoors."

Wrestling is Ivy championships Sunday at Princeton

Reminds me of when we'd camp out by Teagle, and later overnight in Barton Hall, to buy season hockey tickets.

Hockey / Re: ECAC 2025 - after Feb. 2 games
February 04, 2025, 04:12:06 PM
At this point I am hoping for a repeat of 1980.

An underperforming Cornell team finished 8th and then won the ECACs.

That team also lost two regular season games to Dartmouth, then went on to beat the Big Green in the ECAC final, before losing to them in the NCAA consolation game.

1-3 vs. one of the few good Dartmouth teams in the last 50 years...but winning the one game that really mattered.

Byron Bitz - way overperformed for his talent. Big body that hustled. Never would have guessed he would make the NHL.
.
.
and assuming the Schafer era includes his playing years:
Doug Dadswell - 1986 ECACs at the Boston Garden with back-to-back overtime wins
Pete Natyshak - scrappiest player that you hate to play against

I went back and looked - at 16:48, Donaldson stabs the butt end of his stick into the gut of a colgate player, and there was no stoppage until the other penalty
