My wife just received a card from an assistant athletic director at Northeastern saying they would be playing Cornell at Madison Square Garden on Thanksgiving weekend next year.  Anyone else heard this?

I was watching last night's edition of PBS's The Newshour tonight and caught clips of the testimony of a neurologist who has investigated former NFL players who have developed chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).  As she was speaking, they showed a picture of a brain scan from a former NFL player who developed CTE and noticed the name Thomas McHale at the bottom of the image.  This prompted a search where I found this: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090127165938.htm

I didn't realize that Howie Borkan, who does color for many of the RedCast webcasts, is chair of the US Lacrosse men's national teams committee.

"I'd have to say on a scale of 1 to 10 we'd have to give [Harvard quarterback] Collier an A-plus::dribble::, minimum, based upon what our expectations were," Harvard coach Tim Murphy said.::doh::

Thought the eLynah crowd would be interested.  Key quote from Andy:  

Cornell athletic director Andy Noel said the Big Red, based in Ithaca, New York, have cut their budget, put a freeze on construction and aren't hiring.

"This is a serious challenge," he said. "It's not an around-the-fringes kind of thing. For the past decade, we've been reducing around the edges.

Noel, who wouldn't say what programs the school is paring back to reduce costs, said it's doubtful the Ivys will be saved by some last-minute ingenuity.

"Our universities have been generating new, creative revenue streams for a while," Noel said. "We're not going to launch something new and different and money-generating now that we didn't think of last year."
