Just looked at their season to-date and saw WMU tied Maine at Alfond in the second game of a weekend pair, with Maine needing an extra-attacker goal to salvage the tie. They also split with Ferris State in a home-and-home.

So after last night it appears that only Brown--other than the Big Red--can still match the great '69-'70 team's remarkable record. Grillo's guys can even go one better: unbeaten, untied, and unscored-upon.;-)

Just learned that Harvard has cut the size of the Cornell Club of Boston block from 600 to 300, as a result of increased season ticket sales. The fair-weather yachties are back, I guess.

For those in the Ithaca area, this summer's alumni game will be this Friday night, the 12th, at 7:30 in Lynah. This year's reunion banquet "honors" the teams from 1975 through 1984, so there should be good representation from that era.

With several games not yet completed (11:26pm) and Brown no longer a TUC, Cornell drops to #8 in PWR and now wins only 18 comparisons--significantly reducing the edge over teams just below us in the rankings.

Cornell opens its season this coming Saturday, 4pm, against Georgetown at Johns Hopkins's Homewood Field in Baltimore. Both teams have top ten aspirations so it should be a good opener with NCAA tournament implications.
The Big Red lost a game-conditions scrimmage to Hopkins 12-11 last Saturday in Baltimore. Hopkins is picked at #3 in pre-season polls.
