Hockey / OT. food question
March 11, 2017, 12:33:56 PM
for those that attended the game, and only because i read it in the paper and like ice cream, did anyone actually get the free coupon for ice cream from PC fresh?  I didnt come across anyone who got the coupon of the dozen or so friends i talked with.

just wondered if the only handed them out at one door?

Hockey / harvard-cornell non-goal
January 30, 2017, 09:32:52 AM
non-goal

here is the goal that was not reviewed..  when you watch it in slow mo you can see it change direction twice after it hits the post. once it goes left, then it suddenly goes down..

its also strange to see a post deflection that only goes about 10 ft and goes down..

in or not it was worth a review..

Hockey / harvard 4 pack sales
January 28, 2017, 11:19:16 AM
harvard was announced as a sell out,  Still a bunch of seats but in the dozens not the hundreds so that was nice, going forward to yale there are still 2-3 hundred so I dont think they sold many of those 4 packs at that $80 price point.

I checked a few times on line and never saw single game harvard tickets so when did they release them anyone know?

Look at Dart much better sales than the yale game so i expect a pretty good crowd probably 2nd best of the year.

Hockey / Next 4 gameS
January 20, 2017, 01:04:02 PM
All the talk of puck luck and road games aside, the next 4 games really set the tone.

We have games in hand and a good home schedule.

would 2-2 keep us on track?

if the 2 wins are over Harvard and StL. it would pretty much ensure the games in hand would give us a shot to over take one if not both
the same can be said for getting ahead of clarkson.

3-1 and we would be sitting pretty

4-0 and talk of home ice can begin.

Hockey / root for Upsets?
March 05, 2016, 01:19:38 PM
1 upset gets us a series vs Yale..2 gets us harvard.  almost had 2 last night as clarkson trailed the whole game and colgate lost in OT. shoul we be rooting for this?  I would rather play Quin or Harvard than Yale

Hockey / union-cornell
February 26, 2016, 09:38:08 PM
well that was ugly..  a decent amount of good chances and shots but man the Dmen made so many bad decisions that put us in a bind..

from down 2-0 to the 3rd union goal cornell was really controlling play, but this team just can not score.

Hockey / ticket forum?
January 08, 2016, 09:23:51 AM
Maybe I am more out of it than I thought but in looking at Harvard tickets being offered for $150 and I see on other sites $200 is there really that kind of demand?  The tickets havent even gone on sale yet and there will be hundreds for sale when they do since we are so far off in season ticket sales.

Are people really spending that much or even say $50 for this game?

Hockey / goal scoring small sample size
November 15, 2015, 09:08:18 AM
having scored 3+ Six games in a row i went back a few years looking at the streaks like that

14-15 3 games
13-14 3 games
12-13 5 games
11-12 7 games
10-11 3 games
09-10 4 games
08-09 4 games
07-08 3 games
06-07 3 games

not sure if it means anything, but it sure points out that we dont score when 3 games of offense is a burst and thats seems to be where we max out most of the time

yale for #7 this week to match our streak of the decade..

Hockey / free the stream
July 23, 2015, 08:03:53 PM
July 23, 2015
ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine athletic department is proud to announce that it will offer free live video streams of all its home events during the 2015-16 season.

Black Bear fans who formerly had to pay for men's ice hockey, football and women's ice hockey video streams online will now have the benefit of watching all of the exciting Black Bear home events free of charge.

"We have Black Bear fans in every state of the country as well as Canada and overseas," said UMaine Director of Athletics Karlton Creech. "Free streaming is one way for us to thank them for continuing to support our student-athletes and University of Maine Athletics. We are thrilled to share the excitement of home games with all of Black Bear Nation and hope it will lead to further support at our games."

Fans interested in viewing sports outside of ice hockey and football will continue to have free access to UMaine's America East teams through AmericaEast.TV.

UMaine football hosts Rhode Island in its home opener on Sept. 26. Along with UMaine's free stream, American Sports Network will also broadcast the game. Men's Ice Hockey opens its action at Alfond Arena on Oct. 23 when it hosts New Brunswick while the women's ice hockey team hosts defending Hockey East champion Boston University in its home opener on Oct. 4.

"Wherever you go, wherever you are, Maine Hockey and the excitement of Alfond Arena is just a click away!" commented UMaine men's ice hockey head coach Red Gendron.

Hockey / Time for a New Arena thread
April 06, 2015, 11:46:08 AM
I know tradition means alot.. but having just spent time at RIT who made the DIV 1 leap not too long ago, I think its time cornell got serious about lynah.

this is RITs new arena RIT ice arena

it cost about 30-40 million.  about 6-7 in direct donations and the rest from their endowment, some of out being paid back thru increased revenues. Cornell has a much bigger tradition to draw on. We must have some alumni who would want in on this.

Some nice things I saw. better site lines, real seats, cup holders, a real scoreboard. full surround seating, multiple  VIP suites, a restaurant , press boxes

we built a wrestling arena, why not hockey? 4K would be perfect size , put it up at the west end of the vet school lot, parking already exists, still walkable and multiple access routes with great visibility.

Hockey / return to ncaa playoffs at home
March 22, 2015, 03:57:26 PM
the story of how the ncaa is looking to return the first round to a home series is something that i think is long over due.  best of 3 at home is what makes hockey what it is.  it would be really intersting if they added to it by a best of 3 at some neutral site for round 2 as well..  i would think more people would travel with at least 2 games by your team. it would be a crazy weekend too.. i would make the final 4 weekend really cool..  while they are at it add another week and play the whole thing as a best of 3..

Other Sports / CU Lax @ Yale
March 14, 2015, 11:52:17 AM
cornell continues its never play at home tour at highly ranked yale today.   Weather again an issue. its on FCS today at 12:30.   Lax power has it split with mostly its prognosticators taking Yale.

in other news Parnell the younger got hurt at practice this week and will miss the rest of the year after ripping cornell for 6 goals in the game at Virg last week.. too bad

the ivy might not stack up with the ACC but brown does lead the computer polls on laxpower with cornell 4th.

Other Sports / huge LAX game @ Virginia today
March 07, 2015, 11:27:48 AM
CU - Virginia is a big game and no mention at all.. cant all be at lynah since no one showed up there last night.

SU handled both so lets see if CU has progressed from game one.  Virg is struggling on D we need to take advantage of that

Hockey / ECAC pts the sky is falling
January 24, 2015, 01:03:14 PM
the standings when we get home next sat could really be interesting.  teams will have caught up with all the games in hand.  IF Cornell were to win the next 2 we could be sitting at home next week a game out of 2nd place. winning 2 of 3 gets us some room on home ice if nothing else.

funny what 3 goals does for a team we would be indefeated now. 2.5 over the last 4 has us with 3 wins. just that much could get us to first round bye.

STL 18
harvard 18
clarkson 18
cornell 16
colgate 16
yale 15
