It does - I just checked and it looks like I *could* catch a 6 am bus, make it to 175th Street by 10:30, go directly to MSG, catch the game, and then get back up the same night.

But also... that's 9+ hours in a bus on one day 😅

Rather, the issue with these rankings is that I see no reason to believe "College Hockey NXT" is a reputable source. Who, or what, is College Hockey NXT? There's no name (or list of names) on their website. Ha! Hey, when you started CHN, you already had a 'name' in the college hockey world and a record to speak of. You had earned respect already. As far as we know, "collegepucknxt" has none of that. Maybe someday that will be the case with them, but not today.

We know how this works. Pre-season polls are always based on reputation, because of course there are no results yet. Some of these teams will make the tournament and some of them won't. In fairness, in a lot of years, Cornell also benefits from a reputation push, albeit not this year, but that's fine. Yes, none of this matters, but we need something to talk about in August, so here we are.

Puck drop at 12, doors open at 11. Means I have to be in NYC by like, 9 am, and leave my stuff somewhere... so that means I have to come in on the 27th and leave the 28th... but that IS the Calgary game... so maybe try to get cheap seats for that (LMAO it's MSG let's be real here) and leave the 29th? But that's two nights in a hotel, which is a lot of money I don't exactly need to be spending, especially because hotels run $150 minimum... and then the bus TO NYC is cheap ($25) but the one back is like $65, so we're at $400 already, and then tickets, and then feeding and watering and such... gaaah.

Guh. I'll have to think about this way more in depth.

25-30 years ago, Shortline/CoachUSA used to offer an Ithaca-NYC bus that left around 4:30am and got into Port Authority sometime around 9-10am.  It was a great way to do a full day in the city without an overnight stay anywhere.  Sadly, I don't think they run this schedule anymore.

This makes sense to me. I don't think there are a great number of new Cornell hockey fans wishing to discuss hockey stuff over the summer months. The risk of turning away new fans right now is pretty low, compared to the obvious benefit of stemming the tide of new foreign spambot accounts posting in the forum.

That said, I remain hopeful that we'll have a better solution in place before the start of the new season in the fall.

It's the unique set of circumstances surrounding Cournoyer's departure.  Robertson was a great defenseman, but one defenseman is more easily replaced than the starting goaltender, particularly when the two other returning goalies are very clearly perennial backups.  Cournoyer had a good (but not *great*) freshman year, showing a lot of promise but clearly still with some room for improvement.  The way it came out shocked everyone, which is not surprising for fans, but the idea that the coaching staff was also blindsided leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouths.  And the quotes about leaving Cornell for an allegedly better opportunity elsewhere within the college ranks can only be taken as an insult to Cornell, a program well known for producing great goaltending.  I think if Cournoyer had simply left early for the pros, the fans might not be quite as upset over everything (but still a little upset).

Maybe if you think you got a decent chance of success within a few years and you think you'll outlast that AD.
