Hockey / Frozen Four 2013 Roll Call
April 05, 2013, 01:48:25 PM
So since I've been unable to sell my pair of Frozen Four tickets, I guess my wife and I are going to Pittsburgh after all!  Who else among you will be there?

Hockey / Bob Gaudet photos for the Dartmouth game
February 19, 2011, 12:19:20 AM
Attached are photos of Bob Gaudet's infamous tantrum from a few years back, courtesy of mha.  Please print them out at your leisure for use at the Dartmouth game tomorrow/tonight.  One is cropped for letter size paper and the other for legal size paper.  Of course, I wholeheartedly encourage you to print the photos on larger paper.  I'll have about 100 copies to give to some friends in section B to distribute, but more would be helpful.  Enjoy!

Hockey / Colorado College on 2011-2012 schedule
November 03, 2010, 10:21:17 PM
http://www.gazette.com/sports/opponents-98352-wcha-schedule.html

QuoteWhile the 2011-12 slate remains unconfirmed, Owens confirmed Cornell will visit Colorado Springs for a nonconference series.

Hopefully this means we'll also see CC at Lynah in the 2012-2013 season.

For those that don't get the reference...back at the Cornell @ Colgate game in the 2003-04 season, in their typical assholishness, the Colgate student fans decided to toss some of the free pizza (that they had been given as an enticement to show up for the game) at the Cornell fans.  (Fittingly, I think they also ended up hitting some of the few Colgate fans unlucky enough to be in the visiting section.)

Hockey / Apostrophe has left the building

Looks like Adam D'Alba of Brown won't be playing for the team again.  I'd love to be able to tell you more details than that, but I'm too cheap to purchase a USHR subscription.  So instead, allow me to copy and paste ttnorm's description from the USCHO Fan Forum:

"USHR is reporting that Adam D'Alba is through with hockey but will stay on at Brown as a student. He'll be missed for sure."

Strange that he'll still be a student as opposed to going to the pros of some sort.

Hockey / Sign maybe for tonight (Yale)?
January 28, 2006, 03:43:56 PM
I got two hours to kill, so I'm thinking of making a sign for tonight's game.  Right now, I'm thinking it should read "TOOL" in big black letters, with an arrow pointing down, hopefully pointing at Yale coach Tim Taylor.

What do you guys think?  Too obscure?  Or, conversely, overdone?  Do people not want to be reminded of a lame '90s ABC sitcom?  Is it too risque (I don't want to have the sign taken away or, worse, get kicked out)?  Any other potential issues I'm not thinking of here?

Hockey / Quinnipiac/Princeton roll call
January 12, 2006, 09:13:11 PM
I plan to be at both games, though I technically don't have a Princeton ticket yet.  Let's hope that, like in past years, SRO continues to not be a problem.  I expect to be traveling alone for most of the weekend, since I'll be staying at my parents' house in north Jersey in between the games.

Hockey / Krantz in INCH's College Hockey A to Z
August 18, 2005, 11:11:32 PM
http://www.insidecollegehockey.com/7Archives/az/05/krantz_0348.htm

Nice to see that instead of one of the typical big names getting mentioned, Krantz gets the nod.  Though, I suppose, that's sort of the point, as INCH describes each selection for the list as "not necessarily the best player or the biggest name, but in each case it's someone you ought to know".

My personal favorite line:

[q]"I discovered that I could play, and that I could play in front of 4,000 fans at Lynah Rink that felt and sounded like 20,000. And our fans traveled well. A thousand of our fans on the road felt like 10,000."[/q]

Hockey / Stan Moore out at Colgate?
July 02, 2005, 09:56:37 AM
Word on the street (and by "the street", I mean the USCHO message board) is that Stan Moore has left Colgate to become assistant coach (or perhaps associate head coach?) at Providence, under new head coach Tim Army.  Apparently Moore and Army go back a ways, coaching together previously at Providence and Brown.

Thoughts?  Is this good news for us?

Hockey / Cornell RS Worst Case Scenario Finish
February 13, 2005, 11:49:47 AM
Since I'm too lazy to do the math myself, can somebody tell me what the worst case scenario for Cornell is in the regular season, should they lose the last four games?  What's the lowest they could finish?  If they haven't already done so, what needs to be done to clinch a first-round bye?

Hockey / Cornell vs. Dartmouth Postgame Thread
January 21, 2005, 10:38:09 PM
It'd be easy to blame the lone Dartmouth goal on the lack of an offsides call (and from my vantage point, it really should have been offsides).  But it appeared to me that the blame truly lies with the team losing steam in the 3rd period.  They appeared to be playing to keep the game where it was, not to try to net some more insurance goals.  Dartmouth is too dangerous for that strategy to work.  Dartmouth mustered the drive in the 3rd to really come back and really made it close in the end.  That being said, the team mostly looked great in the first two periods, particularly Chris Abbott (though Carefoot gave me one or two scares during the game).  The team just has to remember that the game is (at least) 60 minutes long.

Somehow, I don't think Brown will start up www.scottrowan.com in a bid for the Hobey. :-D

Hockey / So, now that the line is over...
October 03, 2004, 12:42:26 AM
...where is everybody (students, that is) sitting this year?  My group got seats in D rows 8-11 and E rows 6-7 (we had to split up due to varying line numbers).
