Construction has begun on a new field hockey complex out on Game Farm Rd.  From what I gather it will be artificial turf field, but I'm not positive on that.  There will also  be constructing a building that will have locker rooms and other amenities.  They are also going to build out a large parking lot in the Game Farm Rd complex to accommodate more parking for baseball games.

I was wondering what the difference is in the admittance standards for US citizens and foreign citizens.  Do non US citizen students have to take SAT/ACT's ?  Is there foreign standardize testing scores that are utilized ?

This is popping up all over the place when I watch YouTube content.  I know what my opinion is on the subject matter,  which is based on 34 years of working at the institution.  I'm wondering if alumni and donors have the same opinion as the piece describes ?

Luke Graboyes Class '17 participated in this weeks PGA Tour event in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.  Shot an opening round -3 (68).  Luke went to the 18th hole of his 2nd round needing a par on the par 3 ninth hole to make the cut.  Unfortunately he bogeyed the hole and missed the cut by a stroke.  Still a pretty good showing for the Cornell grad.

I know that both the men and the women were highly regarded in the preseason polls, but what I've witnessed has been a historical season of hockey on the hill.  The men & women overall are combined 50-3-7 in the regular season, 37-2-5 in ECAC play and 18-1-1 in Ivy League play.  Also, both teams combined to go unbeaten at Lynah Rink in 2019-2020.

Last weekend the were thefts out of the visiting locker room during Saturday's game verses N. Michigan.  First time in 33 years I have ever heard of thefts from a locker room in Lynah during a contest.  The locker rooms in Newman Arena  have had thefts on several occasions over the course of it's existence.

Cornell beats Dartmouth 5-1 and takes over the top spot in ECAC standings with games in hand.

Just looked up the IVY league hockey standings and noticed that they are awarding 3 pts for a victory and 1 point for a tie.  Have they always done this as opposed to the traditional 2 pts for a win and 1 pt for a tie ?

With a win tomorrow over last place Union, the Big Red women will clinch the ECAC regular season title

Cornell heads out of town to play Brown and Yale.  

It's tough to play at Brown because there is no crowd.  They have averaged 696 fans for 9 home games.

Playing Yale is always a good game for the most part.  Control their top line and they've got a real good chance of winning.

Two wins are crucial for top seed in the ECAC.

Michigan reeled off 3 goals in 58 seconds in the 2nd period tonight.

Been told Saturday's game versus Dartmouth will be at 3:00 pm

Jay Buselli
Which leads us to your next question: Who is Jay Buselli?

He's an Army veteran and a second-year MBA student at Cornell University's SC Johnson Graduate School of Management. On Nov. 10, he and the captains of the MBA team organized a charity hockey game against Buselli's former team, the Fort Drum Mountaineers. More than 150 fans attended the game at Lynah Rink at Cornell University in Ithaca.

That Fort Drum team consists of active duty and veterans from Fort Drum near Watertown, New York. The charity game? It raised $3,500 for Homes for Our Troops, and there's hope that the "Veteran's Day Classic" can become an annual event.

"Prior to the game, we presented the Fort Drum captains with a flag signed by Johnson hockey players and the Johnson community, thanking the Mountaineers for their service," said Corey Minerva, who nominated Buselli. "I think Jay is very deserving of being recognized for his service, putting this event together and backstopping the Johnson team to a 7-4 win."

For helping to pull this game together and for his exemplary goaltending, Jay Buselli is the best player in the world of the week!

After the roof got blown off last night, a bunch of us were sitting around reminiscing about other times when Lynah erupted.

Just taking a look at the schedule and as of 12/1/2014 Cornell has/will play 17 games against teams in the top 20 of the pairwise.

17 - Quinnipiac (0-1)

20 - Dartmouth

How disappointing was it to see section A last Saturday night ?  Not sure what else might have been going on but I counted 29 bodies plus the band in section A 10 minutes into the 1st period.  It did get a little better during the second period, but not even close to 1/2 full.  There are other pockets of empty seats for every home game in section F and G.  

It won't be long and the much ballyhooed belief that Lynah is an intimidating place to play will be just a distant memory.
