With Maryland's loss to Ohio State in the B1G final, this is now for the #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

The winner of this game will be RPI #1 and the loser RPI #2, no matter what happens in the three other remaining games (ACC, Patriot, ASun finals).

May the Force be with us!

Cornell game notes:

A win clinches Cornell hosting the ILT.

Harvard has a 9-2 record and is currently RPI #7. They beat Syracuse early (Feb 22) in the Dome, 15-14, despite winning just 4 of 32 faceoffs. Other notable wins are over Michigan 14-11 and BU 16-7. Their two losses are an early one (Feb 18) to Colgate 15-19 and at Princeton 11-13 (Mar 22).

Massey's computer gives Cornell a 61% chance of winning, by a most-likely score of 15-13:

So: a worthy opponent and a big game with multiple playoff implications.

QuoteThe Cornell and Syracuse men's lacrosse teams will bring a taste of Central New York to Long Island when the Big Red and the Orange meet in a colorful top five battle on Saturday, April 12 at 4 p.m. at Mitchel Field in Uniondale, N.Y. The contest will be broadcast on Corrigan Sports Network.

Cornell rolls into Providence as a heavy favorite. Massey gives the Red an 84% chance of winning, by a most-likely score of 14-9. Sounds about right to me.

Brown is 3-6 with Ivy losses to Yale and Penn. Their wins are by 1 goal over UMass and Providence, and by 2 over Bryant, making them champs of Rhode Island. Yay!

Unless something goes horribly wrong, this should be a tune-up for the Red for the next two Saturdays of big games against the Orange and Crimson, which will be season-defining.

Other Sports / Cornell-Syracuse lacrosse game thread
April 08, 2019, 09:59:25 PM
OK, I will start a thread.

Game is Tuesday at the Dome at 6 PM, broadcast on ESPNU. No Cornell games notes yet.

Last year, Cornell beat Cuse twice, 13-8 in Ithaca in the regular season, and 10-9 in the Dome in round-1 of the NCAA tournament. Cuse led most of the way in the latter, by as many as 3, before Cornell took its first lead in the 4th quarter 9-8. Cuse tied 3 minutes later, but Colton Rupp scored the man-up game winner with 5:35 to play.

JT51 was held to no goals and no assists by Cuse Dman Nick Mellen, who will be back at it tomorrow.

Cornell almost certainly needs to beat at least one of Cuse and ND to have a shot at an at-large NCAA bid.
