ITHACA, N.Y. -- Following the successful completion of a $4 million fundraising campaign, Cornell Athletics will move forward with Phase 2 of the Cornell Field Hockey Complex, which includes construction of a team clubhouse and indoor training facility slated for completion in summer 2027.

The Phase 2 fundraising effort was fueled by a broad, collaborative coalition of Cornell alumni and supporters, reflecting a shared belief in the power of athletics to shape leadership, community and opportunity. While women's athletics alumnae and advocates played a leading role in the campaign, the effort also benefited from meaningful support from donors who have historically invested in men's athletics, supported other areas of the university, or were making their first gift to athletics.

Lead gifts from Marsha Dodson '75, Karin Bain Kukral '82, and Rebecca Quinn Morgan '60 made possible the construction of the indoor practice facility, completing the vision for a championship-caliber home for Cornell Field Hockey. Their leadership, along with the relentless work of a project advisory group and a project development committee (noted below), helped inspire a groundswell of participation that ultimately brought the project across the finish line.

I hope the athletic department is working on an athletics fund raising campaign to next replace the Teagle pool and Schoellkopf Stadium improvements as well.

Nice article on on incoming recruit RB DK Garza. He ran for 3,384 yards this season, passing the previous record which was set back in 2008. And he did it on just 267 carries. "Cornell is a great school," said Garza. "And I'm super excited about the opportunity. I know very few people and players get the opportunity to play college football at the division one level and so my goal is to go out and give my best."

"I don't care where he plays in the country," said Rittimann. "He's going to make their program better. Just because of what he brings every day."

Garza says he plans to study business at Cornell and stay out of the transfer portal.

"There's 60 to 70 more years after college you have left to live in the rest of your life so my plan is to stay at Cornell for four years get a degree and set up the rest of my life," said Garza.

Updated the list based on today's signing day. Lost one commit TE Drew Hardwick to Florida State, added a few late recruits.

Another nice road win. They better hustle back to Ithaca ahead of this big snow storm.

He graduated from Harvard last month, so he was planning all along on transferring to a big-time football school to improve his NFL prospects.

Cornell has a lot of this year's seniors in the transfer portal.  Unfortunately, they also have what what be a 2026-27 junior LB Keith Williams also in the portal. He's received offers already from the U. of Minnesota and Northwestern.  That's the NIL world we live in today.

Florida State is bringing in Keith Williams for a look.

After spending the fall in greyshirt at Cornell, Anthony Knox has committed to Rutgers for the 2026-27 season.

Was curious how Brian Earl was doing at Willam & Mary this year, they're off to a 11-3 start.

After just one season in Ithaca, Anthony Knox is changing course.

The four-time New Jersey State champion wrestler on Thursday, Dec. 18, announced he'd decommitted from Cornell University.

"It's with very careful consideration I have decided to de commit from Cornell University. This was not an easy decision and I truly do love everyone involved with the Cornell Wrestling Program. However, I'm excited to see what this process has in store for me."

Knox didn't provide a reason for the shift. He was not on the Cornell wrestling roster as of press time and apparently hadn't wrestled in a match yet this season.

Quote from: billhoward link=;) date=1765910672Liked Cornell's line about "officially hired from IC once Toerper passes a background check."

That sounds not like "want to be sure this is not Michigan Football V2.0" versus it was leaking out, Cornell wanted to get ahead of the story, and the disclaimer provided wiggle room in case the deal couldn't be closed. Also, saves money on relocation fees.

It's standard for all new hires. Also Mike Toerper's wife works at Cornell which saves them on commuting costs.  ;)

Well my guess for who might be the new DC to replace Jared Backus was wrong.  I thought it might be UPenn DC Bob Benson.  Breaking news:

Cornell (FCS - NY): Ithaca (D-III - NY) head coach Mike Toerper is stepping down and will become defensive coordinator at Cornell.
