We're leaving now - wearing our Cornell shirts - dinner first and then to cheer on Topher (and the Jackals, too)!

Check TimeWarnerSyr.  It looks like they may show a rerun this afternoon at 4 pm before the 7pm live game at 'gate.

Don't know whether I'll be able to access this on my blackberry; this comes just in time for the Sunday game that I must miss, darn it all -

ECAC Hockey announced today (Jan 16, 2008) the debut of a new mobile scoreboard with live score updates from games played at each league rink via www.ecachockey.com/m.

Hockey / Re: Jan '08 Status - Belts Unification

Good question -

The ECAC Belt held by Quinnipiac is next defended v. Rensselaer on 02/01/2008. For what it's worth - we play RPI on 16 Feb and Q'pac on Fri, 22 Feb. We'll know more about 9:30 pm this Friday whether the planets are aligning for unification!

Here's an item of interest from USCHO Forum -

Quote from Ralph Baer:

Current holder of The Belt is SLU; next defense v. Cornell 01/18/2008

Current holder of Ivy Belt is Cornell; next defense v. Brown 1/25/08

Current holder of NY Belt is St. Lawrence; next defense v. Cornell 01/18/2008

Hockey + baseball = 2 sports allowed

It looks like he's the captain as well.

From the same article -

"(Senior Brendan) Byrne (was) unable to attend (the annual awards banquet) due to games for the Harvard baseball team"

My bad, thinking we might need a bubble once the season starts.  It can't snow in Ithaca once spring sports season starts, can it? ::blush::  Then again, we might not be able to get it down in time for the start of the season if the anchors are buried in snow and ice!

...end of the smart aleck remarks...thanks, that makes sense

Reilly83 - thanks for this background

Harding - great idea; would be nice to see the findings archived here

Great find (buried at the bottom of the news column)... will this be a la sucks' bubble thanks to 13 generous alumni?

We saw the bubble when we were in Boston for the hockey game.  We wondered about the fans' seats ... or maybe they don't need a place for fans?

From Cornell Facility Services site -
Carpenter Hall, which was completed in 1957, houses the Engineering Library and the administrative offices of the College of Engineering. This building was a gift of Walter S. Carpenter, Jr., who was associated with E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company from 1909 until his retirement as their chairman of the Board in 1962.

Anyone know more about his connections with men's hockey?

My question, too. Someone here in the past 51 years must know the name of the benefactor. Lynah surely surpassed his / her wildest dreams! We'll do some behind-the-scenes investigating to see what can be found out. Quite a return on their investment.  And 50 years later - the renovation worked hard to keep best of the original rink.
