Hockey / Re: OLÉ!

Yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you've said there Beeeej. While we do have other cheers that are unrelated to hockey, your point about cheers being added organically is well taken. Let's hope "Kill, Red, Kill" enjoys even more success this year, along with any others that we may spontaneously come up with.

For anyone who hasn't heard it, BU's "Ole-Ole" cheer is incredibly memorable and very appropriate for the PK. That's just my separate opinion. We probably shouldn't copy them.

Like Will, I'm not sure if I agree with the "SCORE! SCORE! SCORE!" cheer on the powerplay; it really isn't very creative or inspiring.

The "Ole-Ole" cheer is good suggestion. If we could get the whole Lynah crowd singing, the result would just be unbelievable. BU does this on the PK, so that fact could make some people hesitant about ever considering it. However, given that the "Kill, Red, Kill " cheer has seen only moderate success and our lack of range is increasingly apparent, I think that "Ole-Ole" could really find a place in the arsenal. It certainly would be a crowd pleaser for those fans who aren't as intense as we are.

Hockey / Re: Dividing loyalties?

I'm a born and bred BU fan. My father has season tickets and has been taking me to games since I was very young. I've seen Beanpots, HE tournament games, and even Chris Drury's Hobey Baker ceremony. Ironically, I was at the BU-Cornell series in 2001. Little did I know I'd end up in Ithaca.

Call me what you want, but I've definitely switched loyalties since coming to Cornell. Part of it was that I gradually lost interest in BU hockey once I got to high school and eventually stopped caring. Another part was that I really had no connection to the program. That and being a Cornell fan is much more appealing (as facetimer-ish as that sounds).

Unlike most people here, I'll pull for BU if the circumstances permit. I still yell "Screw BU" though.

I've heard that Dave will be leaving school within the next few days.

Speaking of Scott getting the C, BU's Brad Zancanaro (this past season's captain) is a player of a similar mold. He's listed as 5-5 and plays tenaciously despite his size, like Topher.

We shouldn't make presumptions about the locker room atmosphere.  When it comes down to it, we really don't know who speaks up and who listens at critical moments. Don't discount the leadership abilities of the current juniors only because they don't visibly display the same (exceptional) grit and drive as Scott does.

Honestly, I don't even know why we should care.  Is it even worth it to root against BU anymore?  When we say "Screw BU" do we really mean it?  Most of us don't even know the reason for the cheer.

If anything we should root for a program that has been down in the dumps for a while and is making a comeback.  I understand we have a storied history with BU and that this picture may have some meaning for the OP and a few others, but this is really over the top and stupid.

If those were Harvard fans on the other hand...

Will this place let underage people in?

Does your friend have any room for an extra passenger on the ride to Boston?  Thanks.

Hockey / Re: Albany tickets in the Cornell section

Section 130 in the lower bowl should be a standing section.  When I purchased my tickets today, the office had a diagram with that entire area marked "students."  At least I hope it will be.

BC doesn't have a loyal student base for hockey. Most would choose to go to a basketball or football game instead, given the quality of those programs. Even so, BC fans for any sport are not good. An unenthusiastic "We are BC" is the one and only cheer that sticks in my mind from the football game I attended. Facetimers to the max.

Then again, I grew up as a BU fan, so maybe I'm slightly biased...

Seconded. We've been good all year.

It just seems like there are always empty sections within A. It's pretty unfortunate. LGR.

Agreed.  The crowd in A was the worst it has been all season.  Let's hope this changes for Saturday night.

Hockey / Traveling to Colgate
February 03, 2006, 10:17:25 PM
My friends and I are driving to Colgate for tomorrow's game.  For those with experience, what is the best route to take coming from Ithaca?  We'd like to avoid the small roads, if possible.  Also, how long does it generally take to get there, assuming decent weather conditions?  Finally, any recommendations on where to grab something to eat before the game?  Thanks.

No, no, no.

I'm talking about the old cheers that have disappeared from the rotation. I'm not THAT new.
