Sorry for the off-topic post, but I figured some Faithful might know the answer to this question. I'm going to be setting the world record in a few weeks as the youngest woman to run a marathon in all 50 states, and am trying to pick a song for the race officials to play as I cross the finish line. I thought it would be really fantastic to have them play the Gonna Fly Now/Gary Glitter mix, but the only recording I can find is from Live at Lynah and it's not very good quality (duh, it's live). Does anyone know if there's a better quality recording of this that might be suitable?

I may try for Ship of Fools this time. I had to leave early last Friday (had a friend coming into town and needed to pick her up from Penn Station), and also came late, resulting in a very un-Faithful appearance. However, this time I'll know to get there early to get a table and make some friends!

Came across this article in the Washington Square News (NYU's newspaper) this morning:

I also just want to add it's not necessarily THAT dumb to do it near athletics. Half the people I know were waiting up on north because they figured it would be in an open space (like the fields up there). As long as they don't do it at athletics every time but pretend it can be anywhere.

I've said this a thousand times, so sorry to everyone who's sick of hearing this from me: Fall 05 would have been fine except that they were stupid enough to keep the doors shut and make people stand there for a good 15 minutes before letting them file through to Bartels. If the Section A doors had been open from the beginning, it would have been fine.

Edited: Bartels, not Barton

Pretty sure Topher's about my height, and I'm 5'5. Meet the Big Red confirms this and says he's 5'6. Looks like it's the stadium seating in that pic?

I suppose slight should be italicized in my original post. I realize there is a problem with people/distance/acoustics in a rink, but the cowbell beat is taken to the absurd, and it is not a problem of synchronization.  The beat from D and E accelerates until after the first cycle, when everyone stops from exhaustion.

The same thing happens during "Let's go Red" chants.

I realize that topics like this get beaten to death on the board, but do we have any workable ideas on educating the masses?
I suppose the Anaphoric Society could place metronomes on all the seats at the East end.
We could combine the problems to form a solution.  Apply subtle cowbell that most people can hear in B and A to keep a tempo for Lets Go Red!.  I think people would be inclined to follow a quiet beat of tap-tap-tap-pause-tap-tap-tap.  This might be a way to educate the masses about the idea of tempo.
For the LGR that comes after an opposing goal, the pep band drummer plays a  beat, and no one ever follows that. I don't see why they'd be any more likely to follow the cowbell. If anything, I'd just find it as annoying as that guy who stands near the back of B and does that stupid whistle with the beat of LGR.

Isn't that "our careers are progressing, we're doing quite well"?  The part about magna cum laude (but still unemployed) is in the Senior verse.

Do these kids today even know Song of the Classes?
Graduating senior here, and I've never heard it. Where can I find it?

So if the game starts at 7, what time do we need to get there for Senior Night? Or does the actual puck drop get pushed back?

LGR drives me absolutely crazy, especially since I sit in B and I can hear the drum of the band very loudly. Basically it becomes a choice of clapping with the crowd or with the drum, and either way I feel really off the beat.

Hockey / Re: SLU - Cornell Post Game
February 03, 2007, 10:08:02 PM
I have to disagree with the earlier comments, at least to some extent. While I agree that we didn't play as well as last night, I thought we still looked decent; definitely better than we've looked for most of the season.

My biggest complaint about the game was the ridiculous call that the refs missed with about 30 seconds left. One of the SLU(T) players jumped on one of our guys (sorry, didn't pay attention to who), and was literally hanging onto him piggyback style by the neck with one arm while using his other arm to punch the guy in the face. Now, I realize that refs try not to call much when it gets down to the end, but I thought that was pretty ridiculous, especially since a stop and loss of a SLU(T) player at that point could have made a huge difference and sent us into overtime.

Did anyone else see all of this or am I crazy?
First, I'm familiar with the rush schedule (I was in the same house I believe you were).  My point wasn't to move the whole rush week, but I never understand why a contacts that late in the week (after "Smokers" are through) couldn't be more in the afternoon if it happened to coincide with a hockey night, especially since afternoon is usually the least busy part of the day during rush days.
Because smokers go till 5 or 6 (usually 6, but today they were shortened till 5). Houses need at LEAST an hour (if not more) to regroup and figure out who they want to contact, so doing it before 7 or 8 just doesn't work. They are 8-10 all the other nights, so it makes sense to continue with that and not move it to 7-9, so that silly freshmen don't get confused.

I'd guess that there will be a ton, because no students are back for good, so they'll probably sell a lot of student seats when they don't show up.

Hockey / Re: Jersey
January 06, 2007, 03:19:36 PM
I really don't get the problem with the jerseys. The ones in Florida weren't that bad, and my only qualms with them were the change in font and the stripe on the shoulder. Both of these have nothing to do with the design of the jersey itself (only the way that particular one was made). If they just make the font the way the old one is and get rid of that stripe, I could care less how they feel to the players, because they'd look the same to me.

In short, I think it's much ado about nothing. The design itself isn't at all different from a spectator's perspective; it's just the way they put the letters and decorative elements on.
Not sure how recent this update on McKee is, but it looks like he's been recalled again:

This article indicates that McKee helped the team to the 2006 Frozen Four. I wish!
