Like getting a stupid undisciplined penalty in the third period of the semi-final? I'd say he was a factor as well, but not in a good way. He is talented, but IMHO, he needs to grow up and learn to walk away when someone is baiting him.

I got five good size fish in this year. ::rock::Four were about 8-9 inches long, the last was about 13-14 inches long. I had two in each of my shoes (the heads 'popped' literally:-/), and the last around my waist. I was a bit inebriated when I got to the game, so my memory is a bit blurry, but lets just say some authority figures knew I had fish and were cool with it. I got a half-assed pat down but the cop at the door. He felt the fish at my waist, looked up with a slight grin and said, " Do you really have to do this? I don't want to catch you later!!!" Yeah, and all the ushers knew we had fish, they just turned around. As much as the university says that they are trying to stop this tradition, they love it as much, if not more than the students. They just cannot openly condone the practice. Don't worry about getting the sea life in to the rink. Your biggest concern at this point should be getting tickets not on an isle, or behind the netting, and how you plan on throwing the fish without getting caught and ejected. Oh yeah, and not being a flaming pussy, holding onto your fish for to long, then throwing it when you get an inkling in your toes, costing the team to go a man down.::asshole:: You have lots to look forward to. I'd say learn the words to the alma mater before you worry about any of this.

PS... A wonderful splat and streak result if you you take a small pocket knife and gut the fish before you throw it. Though there is a possible risk of getting fish guts in the hair of those in front of you, but what can you do?::twak::

I think you are confused... Dolphins=mammal, Sharks (no bone skeleton... all cartilage, have gills) = kind of fish.

To address the issue of a hanging scoreboard while maintaining the low ceilings. Imagine a roof line kind of like DIA, except supported externally by steel. This would create low ceilings at the periphery of the rink, and a ceiling high enough in the middle to accommodate the height of a score board. The score board would be visible from all locations as long as the engineers were careful enough to make sure the slope of the roof is tangent to the sight line from the farthest and highest viewing position in the rink. I think it would look pretty cool when in the rink to see no supports. I bet the material would make for a loud rink. Just an idea... ::screwy::

I think it is possible to design a building that accomplished most of what you want with only a few sacrifices. It would probably take some fancy architecture and a bunch of money, but I think it is definitely possible. I really don't think the capacity needs to increase at all. With the new regulations the same amount of seating is going to take up almost 1.5 times the current area. I would not want anything to replace lynah unless it is without a doubt better in all aspects. I think that the atmosphere can be maintained as long as the designer knows what aspects of the current architecture contribute to the atmosphere. Lets name some of those: fans are close to the ice, fans are close together, fans (students) are grouped together, low roof, steep steps, lack of sound-deadening material, loud fans, the Big Red Band... keep em coming...

1. Peter Natyshak Award, Career Improvement

Sam Paolini- He has made the most progress in my time watching the senior class.

2. Randy MacFarlane Award, Transcendent Beauty and Skating Prowess

Michael Knoepfli- The kid can fly. He does well in open ice, along the boards, on defence, on the forecheck... allover the place. I think he is by far the best skater on the team.

3. Dave Shippel Award, Scrappiness and Effort

Greg Hornby- You know when come on the ice. The other team knows when comes on the ice. He makes people pay for sloppy and or lazy play. He is relentless. He is by all means the most scrappy player on the roster, just look at the penalty minutes.

4. Terry Gage Award, Determination in a Supporting Role

Jan Pajerski- He doesn't even make the score sheet. He gets no p.t. he is a real team-player. He practices just like everyone else. If he doesn't best define a supporting player, I don't know who would.

5. Mike Schafer Award, Leadership and Passion

Stephen Bâby- You can tell by how he carries himself that he take most of the responsibility for the team. From my observations he works harder than all but Hornby. He leads by example on the ice, and has done a great job unifying the team off the ice.

6. Pierre Belanger Award, Worst Referee

Alex Dell- He was the ref for the away Colgate game, Princeton home game, Dartmouth away game, St. Lawrence away game, and the Vermont home game. He was the ref for our two in conference losses. He has no control over the game. I watched this guy in all of these games. I hate this guy!

7. John Carter Award, Most Respected Opponent

Dominic Moore- He is a gentlemen, a competitor, and a wonderful talent. It is going to be fun watching him work his way into the pro's.

8. Kevan Melrose Award, Least Respected Opponent

A tie between John Emiger (York) for the cheep shot on Matt Moulson, and Paul Crosty (Brown) for the cheep shot on Matt McRae.

9. Doug Dadswell Award, Most Valuable Freshman

Cam Abbott- He is good on defence and offence. He is a great forechecker. He was not lucky enough to be on the second power play unit, but still put up some great numbers. He scored 2 GWG, and had the highest P/M of any freshman on the team.

10. Joe Nieuwendyk Award, Most Valuable Player

David LeNeveu- He stops lots of pucks that should otherwise go into the net. He gives us at least 1 or 2 spectacular stops per game.

Bullshit!!! A few nights ago in the NHL playoffs a guy batted the puck into the net. He hit his stick down against the crossbar, but contacted the puck below the crossbar. The goal stood. Barry Melrose even talked about how it was ok for a part of the stick to be above four feet as long as the part that contacts the puck is below for feet. It was not high sticking for the last time!!!

Anyone else feel this thread reads a little too much like an advertisement for this place than an official event?  For example, on the pregame Pearl St. Brewery thread, you don't see any "yo!  Me and all my crew are gonna go there!  What a great place!! This is going to be great...with all my friends!!" replies from unfamiliar names like this entire thread is.

Hey, if Kevin or someone else happens to work at/own this place and is a Cornellian, that's great, but come clean and just say "hey, we'd like your business.  I'm a Cornellian, too.  C'mon down."

Of course, I could be wrong, and all these people with their crews will all be there.  I did check out their website, and Kevin is listed as the proprietor, and he is encouraging much Cornell business, so that's great.

Look at the IP addresses. A few are resnet.

Hockey / Screw the lottery
March 31, 2003, 09:12:40 PM
There should not be a lottery. The tickets should go to the first 150 people from the original ticket line this past fall. If a person cannot go, then the University should go to the next person. How about transportation as a part of the package? Now that would be nice. I hope we have some thinkers back there. Now that would really make sense.:-D
