Quote from: Willy '06Looks like we lost 7 votes in the ESPN poll, but kept our 2 votes in the AP poll. I think the chances that we are out for good are pretty strong now (I guess they already were) considering a 2 win weekend has us losing votes.
As predicted. We may get some votes back if we win out - including a decisive home court win over Princeton - but we aren't going to be in the top 25 again.
I don't know. Does basketball have a post tournament poll like hockey does? If so we might crack the top 25 if we win a couple of games.

Not sure if this was a joke or not, but either way, LOL

Quote from: Jim HylaOK, that was a great game, but why do both the hockey and BB teams have to play at Harvard the same night?

I tried emailing everyone on the Harvard Athletic Department staff, asking them if they could possibly stagger the two games, but, perhaps unsurprisingly, got nary a peep in response. Decisions, decisions. I don't even have any idea where the hoops court is. Is it anywhere close to Bright? Is it feasible to run over and watch hoops during the intermissions in hockey?

Basketball @ Harvard game is sold out.

Not like the good ole days when you could alternate between the venues at your leisure. Harvard and Cornell basketball are now legitimate.

Some hockey writer noticed the same thing. This phenomena is mentioned in the following ECAC notebook from INCH, under "Rankings Outrage"

Quote from: Luke 05The auto-bid in Bracketology goes to Harvard because they are in first place with a win over Dartmouth on Saturday.

Not to mention their RPI may have been better when the article was written.

This is the actual reason, cited by Lunardi in his explanation column.

No league games had been played when the current version of Bracketology was posted.... but yes, they generally will include the 1st place team in single bid conferences regardless of their quality.

FWIW, Hofstra has already begun selling tickets to the event. Check their athletics website gohofstra.com
how far is the stadium from the LIRR stop? I'm assuming you get off in Hempstead?
It is a bit of a trek down Hempstead Tpke from the LIRR station. There are MTA busses that run from the station to the campus/stadium pretty regularly. They accept MetroCards.
Not sure if everyone saw the news, but our neighbors to the south, (and safety school for Cornell applicants aplenty), the Binghamton Bobcats, are headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time.
Did you really think the Binghamton Bearcats were called the Bobcats, or was that an extremely obscure Boeheim reference?

Hockey / Re: Any video for Yale game?

They had free All-Access for the basketball game last Friday. The feed worked about 40% of the time, and the camera work was juvenile at best. At one point someone knocked into the camera and it swung around to the crowd. Online viewers were watching at a few sporatically populated rows of seats for 5 minutes trying to figure out what was happening on the court off screen from solely fan reactions.

QuoteIt wasn't the first time Byron Bitz had a big crowd chanting his name. It had been a while, though.

The rookie fourth-liner scored his second and third NHL goals Tuesday night, leading the struggling Bruins to a 6-1 win over the Florida Panthers in the opener of Boston's six-game homestand.

Bitz's performance had the fans buzzing, just like he used to in his days at Cornell.

"Couple times in college - but 20,000 people's different than 4,000, so it was pretty cool," he said.
