And the announcer is SO biased toward Uconn!!  Couple that with his inability to pronounce "Quinnpiac" properly.  It is not "Quinnkpeeeac"

To be clear, I am pulling for Uconn.

Maybe it's time to hit the mute button

Quote from: BeeeejDoesn't quite fit the thread thematically, but there really isn't another thread that's more appropriate, so... an unfortunate update on Sam Paolini:

From today's D&C: Hilton's Paolini dominates in net

Sam Paolini was from Rochester and Hilton's just a bit west, so I was wondering if goalie Barrett Paolini was related and came across this post.  Beeeej, what was this all about?  Sam won the hockey Humanitarian Award!
.
Barrett Paolini has a record of 150-0!!!    WoW, this kid is a winner!!

Quote from: stereaxI loved that game.

Yes it was.    But, somebody at WHCU or TuneIn went out of their way to be annoying in the third period with the multitude of commercials being injected over Jason's PBP...

Wasn't just the 3rd. In the 1st and 2nd there were weird ads for "radio is great to advertise on!"
You are correct.    But, there were MANY more ads in the third.   I could tolerate that 1st & 2nd.   But, the number of they in the 3rd was intolerable!

Quote from: pjd8Don't wait until March to donate to the pep band! They have a link on their home page. Click on the Donate menu link at the top of the page: http://pepband.bigredbands.org/

You can also hire them for events. I happen to know they can really perk up a wedding.

Yes, we hired the pep band to play at our wedding, which occurred at Lynah in Aug 2016.    We recited our vows at center-ice.   Phil Graham said that we were the first to do this.   So, every home game has extra meaning to us.

That's extraordinary. Did you wear skates?

No.

Quote from: stereaxJust got a survey for the Boulevard experience - sharing here for anyone who was at the event! I assume it hit everyone's emails, but just in case.

Personally, I tried to emphasize the crampedness of the Boulevard. Definitely felt like there wasn't enough space. The event itself was pretty fun - it's not meant to be something super intense, just a fun way to get into the mood and unwind before the game. I think it succeeded really well at that. The younger Lynah patrons all seemed delighted, the current students seemed to enjoy it as well, and even the older folks appreciated the atmosphere.

Call me a grumpy old man, if you like.    But,I come to a hockey game to the game itself.    I was not pleased that they routed us into "the boulevard" when I came to watch a hockey game.   Nuff said!!

For me, it was Doug Murray.   Those crushing hits by him often changed the game in a big way.

"That great old barn in Ithaca, Linaw Arena".   I love it when a person is trying to act like they know something then butchers the pronunciation & ebd up looking stupid

Quote from: billhowardThe smaller cities and smaller arenas may be hungrier for the NCAA's business. Springfield MA is an 8,000-seat arena and Midwest regional site Centene Community Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri [first time I heard the site name I mentally placed in Maryland], I believe the largest of their four rinks is 3,500. Syracuse, Binghamton and Glens Falls and have 4,000+ and could bid for NCAA hockey regionals. Or Lake Placid.

Don't forget Elmira...   I believe their rink is approx 4K.

Quote from: Scersk '97Loved the moment deep in the third where our guys pinned it against the wall in the Dartmouth end for a good 45 seconds. Old time hockey.

Except in the old days they would have whistled it dead after 15 seconds.

Ehhh, depends on how old time we're talking. I remember quite a few scrums during my undergrad and early alum days that were let to play out for quite a bit.

I remember refs in that era yelling "move it, no whistle!"
Ahhh, the way it should be...

Hockey / Re: Lake Placid-2024

Quote from: BearLoverCan someone explain what the problem with Albany was? If you live in the tri-state area it is easily accessible. Lake Placid is not. Many more fans would be able to attend the games if it were held in a more central location like Albany. Was Albany attendance not higher than Lake Placid? Personally, I'm probably never making it up to Lake Placid, but Albany would be easy for me and I'd go most/all years Cornell made it.

I am one Cornell fan who attends the tourney in Albany, with or w/o Cornell in it.  LP?   I have no interest in that & probably never will.
