Went to the NHL All-Star Skills competition today, which was preceded by an Old-Timers/Celebrity game.  Joe Nieuwendyk played in it (since he was named one of the 100 best NHL'ers the night before), and had an assist on a goal (I think it was by Nicholas Lidstrom).  It was fantastic to see Joe skate again, although it was a big strange seeing him in a uniform modeled after the LA Kings white away jersey.

Durning the 2nd intermission of today's Ducks game, the Ducks broadcasting staff (including Brian Hayward) interviewed McKee for a couple of minutes.  He will stay up with Anaheim all year..but doesn't expect to play.   He expects to start next season in Portland.

I was at the game...probably Joe's last game in LA vs the Kings.  We had great seats behind the Florida bench.  Joe saw my Cornell sweatshirt and pointed his stick at me during warmups!  That was a nice thrill and I felt like such a kid again.  It's been fun seeing him score goals against the Kings over the years.
