What did one of the announcers say? Like they are actively "hunting the puck" or something like that.

These Denver guys are so good. Never see one flat-footed, watching the game. So much so, they seem like they're nearly half a step ahead at all times.

Rough night for Ashton. Missed a backhand shot, shoots on Courn with the rebound going to the wrong team, and then boarding. Yeesh.
Let's see some unconventional heroics, lads.

Indeed, though that is perhaps more agonizing a thought, since it really is random. One has to have real faith in probabilities at that point to shake confirmation biases of curses and such.

The views in here have been really thought-provoking. As crushing as this loss was, I can't ignore the fact that these guys played better than I ever remember seeing us, including Buffalo in '03. One bad penalty and one shitty call while playing a side stuffed with talent is probably all that separates any quality team on any given year from taking the crown.

Quote from: BearLoverThat was the first time Cornell looked this way the entire season.

I don't see the game quite the same on tv as I do from my perch at Lynah but I saw a lot of pleasant things in their approach.  Someone earlier mentioned how they didn't overpass and that was true on all three goals.  Penney did a great job of buying time to get into an even better scoring position.  Mack showed us earlier in the season that he has the scoring touch and proved it by making a b-line for the net on both of his goals.  I can see in my mind's eye an unnecessary pass being made in each of these situations, especially on the third goal with Stanley streaking for the net but the guys did a great job of keeping it simple and taking matters into their own hands.  Even on tv I still noticed how passive the Maine defenders were.  I saw multiple times where their guys just seemed to cower and allow a Big Red player the space to make a play.  At the other end of the rink I thought Cornell used their speed to get into the right positions to make the defensive play the rest of the night after the Maine goal.  It looked to me like most of those plays were stick on puck instead of having to lay out to block a shot.  They played the way they needed to play to win that game.  Pretty neat to see they have some variety to their game.  Hopefully that makes it tough for any opponent to get a book on them.

I was shocked how sharp (aside form the Maine goal) the team looked, how well positioned guys were to jump on the puck and streak to the other end and make a go at the goal instead of cycling it around a dozen times only to have it poked away... you know, the way we look when we're on power plays that never work out.

Quote from: DLSLU's lone goal compared to BC's first goal last night, both top shelf, far corner. Man, that looks hard.

And especially hard for a right-hand shot
Indeed, though must not be that hard for Will Smith, with a hat trick (one banked off a D-man) + ENG against BU that night.

Quote from: BearLoverBut the question still remains—what's wrong with Gary Glitter? The students have been dropping F-bombs during that song for 20 years.

And the ushers have been tossing some of them out for that to "make an example" off and on over the last 20 years (although they do seem to have chilled out on the ejections during the last few years). Maybe it was an Andy Noel thing, and the new AD wants to have a better reputation with the students? That's been my impression at least, although I think having ECAC brass  in the building (like last night) causes sphincters to tighten up a bit amongst athletics staff.
In four years of sitting in the student section with everyone yelling "fuck 'em up," never once did I see someone tossed out for that.

Pretty sure I got tossed out over 20 years ago because they claimed I said fuck 'em up. Ironic, as that was one of the times I actually wasn't, though loads more around me were. Course, I just came back in a different entrance, but it was still a pretty shit thing to do.

I'm such an a**hole for hating on Vanini's barrage of "no question/no question about it". His frequency would make for a pretty robust drinking game, tho.
