unexpected, and I would have loved to face the Army cadets
but not mad about Hopkins, and of the top 4 seeds I like ND best for a 2nd round match up

gotta keep getting healthier and focused

EDIT - should we be doing a rain dance? we played better in bad conditions LOL

okay, scanning the likely NCAA teams now the conference tournaments have wrapped up

Princeton
UNC
Richmond
NotreDame

get the 2 play-in winners, UAlbany and either Army/Georgetown

next band is Cornell, Syracuse, UVA and they get the other Army/Georgetown, PennState and Yale or Harvard
Last seed JHU likely gets Duke

now factor in things like Penn States 3 'bad losses' and Duke's weak schedule and failure to make the ACC tournament. then factor in avoiding in conference 1st round matchups and minimizing travel for 1st round games

I could see Cornell/Army, PSU/SU and UVA/Yale

albany likely travelling to South Bend IN, and Georgetown flips with Army to have a shorter trip for them to Richmond/UNC and army stays north for either Cornell or Cuse

really hoping we dont get the better seed than Cuse, but end up with PennState again to save them and Army each just 1 hour of bus travel

Congrats to Princeton, similar to Cornell last year... so many scoring threats.
Tully and Casscadan kept them the game in the 1st half.
Unlike the the Harvard match up, as I feared Marshall got exposed against a more balanced Princeton squad. Love his motor, but he takes risks that dont pay off and gets lost in recovery. Anyone at the game see Lohnes? Dressed? Still on crutches?  The wheels were completely off by the middle of 3rd. I dont put too much stock in what happened after that.

Concerning that they figured out something against Casscadan at FO in the 3rd and 4th quarters. We need him to be locked in for the NCAA tournament, and maybe make better decisions in transition. Gave a very hot golaie some easy shots and when he finally looked to pass threw one out of bounds.

I thought Goldstein could make some hay from X... he had his man hung but couldnt get above GLE with his hands free. Opportunity for more 2 man play ? Maybe if you dont have Croddick in goal you net a few more early and change the dynamic

Will be interesting to see what the committee does. With the loss I think Cornell ends up in the 6-9 seed instead of 3-5. Depending on where some of these teams end up in final RPI and how much travel distance/in conference 1st round matchup avoidance comes in to play... I have a bad feeling we will be seeing PSU/UVA/Duke instead of the Army/Georgetown options we might have seen with a win. SU will be close to us in the seeding probably, and they cant play UVA or Duke... so maybe they get PSU and we get an ACC match up the 1st round (but that would be a flight instead of a bus and NC$$ has in the past tried to avoid that)

yeah folks can be touchy about Quint.
TBH despite doing his weekly rankings, I am not sure how much Ivy League play he is watching week to week. My read is that he has some confirmation bias to keep running with his early season picks (eg. Princeton) and he tends to hyperbole to reinforce the teams he thinks will be playing Memorial Day

Yesterday he talking up Princeton and the ACC teams and being a bit dismissive of the other teams in the mix (Richmond and Cornell noteably). Later in the broadcast though he was voicing that there were 8-10 teams this year that could win it all and no Maryland 2022 or Cornell 2025 team

If we dont feed our grudges in sports, what's the point of being a fan, particularly of the underdog =P

random observations

D looked really good without Lohnes. Marshall brings a different dynamic and it really played well with how the whole Defense was pushing out to Harvard. Does that work against Princeton or Yale (doubtful) ?

After a season of painfully slow restarts, making players move further and further out along the endline... Tully got caught out of net at least twice doing his best to jog back after a run out and 5yards from the crease still when the whistled play live.

Thought the 1st period goal waved off for goal mouth was a push. Thought the late push call against Cornell was a crease violation (more of a hip to hip with the Princeton player spinning and falling in the crease)

Firth and Goldstein with a ton of points, but early goals by #20 and #33 added variety. AJ looks a little slow, but his physicality and comfort carrying really gives them another look. Great to see him get a goal.

Quote from: djk26 on April 25, 2026, 03:56:59 PMGreat win today. I don't love Cornell having to play these guys again in less than a week but I think Cornell locked up a NCAA bid today--the ILT will be all about improving seeding (and of course, a tournament championship, on top of a regular season championship in this league this year would be a huge accomplishment.)
We looked like the better team all day. It will be a really good game, but I expect it will look the same on Friday.

Hopefully minus the rain  ;D

Quote from: mike1960 on April 18, 2026, 05:28:07 PMNice win against Dartmouth in Hanover. We've got to get our set offense figured out if we want to make noise in May.

agreed, not a lot of assisted goals today
all those shots from 20'+ are not going to work in torunament play

Dartmouth with a pole goal
Casscadden ith another win.

Firth killing clock running the entire zone before scoring on empty net
14-9

Casscaden wins again... 19/23
#10
Dartmouth goes on the EMO following a push by C Box
Number 13 has had a good day overall with a couple CTOs I think

Cornell holds, still 13-8 with just under 3minutes remaining
#11
Dartmouth stops the run at 5... Casscadden wins ensuing FO out the front and charges down to score on a bouncer
13-8
#12
Nurry with a nice aggressive dodge to the net scores

Goldstein scores in transition off another faceoff win

10-7 Cornell lead
#13
Dartmouth gets possession to start the 4th on a Casscadden violation
Cornell gets a goal from Goldstein in transition

8-7
#14
Tully with a great save at the end of the 3rd, stoning a cutter that slipped out of the pack
still 7-7.

prior Cornell offensive possession again just terrible
not sure if Robinson has the greenlight from well outside or the coaches have an audible for him to rifle it very wide to get a restart from behind the goal LOL
#15
absolutely atrocious sequence of passes/turnovers below GLE
Dartmouth coughs it up entering the offensive box and Gilmartin sprints it out

Ball gets worked around an Nurry scores
7-7
