Tom--
I'm pretty sure it's the sign on the Cambridge side of the Mass Ave/Harvard Bridge, out in front of Ashdown House at MIT (which is where you're thinking of).  Sadly, I think the construction people reset it to the original message :-P

Sometimes I love my new school too :-D

Hockey / [OT] Can anyone do VHS to DVD?
January 12, 2004, 02:36:59 PM
With all the A/V savvy folks here, is anyone set up to transfer VHS tapes onto DVD?  I've got about 2.5 hours of tape I'd like to transfer, without spending a large fortune.  (Small fortune negotiable :-) )

Thanks!

Hockey / Re: Harvard fans?

Someone in the Harvard fan section did in fact wing a (roughly) full bottle of Sprite at the band.  Fortunately it didn't hurt anyone.

Their fans tried hard but were kind of sad.  A bunch of them were just acting out as much as possible to get on TV.  A few took every taunt and chant we threw at them so personally they looked like they were going to have an aneurysm.  I don't think they quite get the point.

There were many empty seats.  Hahvahd had the one active student section behind the net, then the section with their band.  The other sections were sort of politely interested and cheered for goals.  They all got into it for a while there in third, making it all the sweeter when they left crushed and dejected. :-D

Hey Al,
Yeah, I can zoom it up to full screen that way, and it looks pretty decent...  And any version is a whole lot better than no way to see it at all :-D

I get the Unknown Error and no combination of shutting the original feed and pasting the URL, etc. will make it work.  Pbbbt.

Oh well, they're tiny hockey players, but they're clear.

Hockey / Re: Cornell @ Yale

If someone said this elsewhere and I missed it, sorry.  Does anyone know if buying tickets at the door usually works for Yale?  Or would it be wise to try and get tickets in the small bit of advance that's left?

Um, it wasn't a political thread.  It was a "look at the Daily Sun getting a headline on Google News; whee Cornell" thread.  I thought this might be the one place that people would care...

Nifty.  The Sun's article about Bush's "no-huddle defense" (sorry, defence)

http://cornelldailysun.com/articles/9083/

just popped up as a Top Story on Google News (news.google.com).

(Why, yes, I am supposed to be writing my dissertation...)

[q]I'm particularly fond of "Besides from those Doritos I rolled over while sleeping..."[/q]

I'm relieved that I'm not the only one who couldn't quite parse that sentence...

Next the Athletics Department will make us wait in line to subscribe to Hockeycam.  Oh, wait!  No problem there. ::scream::

Ah, nirvana.  Ragging on Harvard athletes combined with ragging on people who misrepresent science.  My geeky Faithful heart is full.

Glad that solved your problem!
