Please! Kill the suspense before it kills me. What did the sign say?

Speaking of the pep band - I'm teaching English to fifth graders in a town north of Tel Aviv now, and today one of the teachers I work under put on what she must have considered calming music while the kids were doing group work. This really melodramatic orchestral piece came on, with all kinds of swells and slowing-downs-before-the-pauses and whatnot (these are technical terms from my years of dedicated musicianship) - anyway, I knew the piece, I could anticipate every turn of the melody, but from where??

It was the theme from Love Story! Of all the random songs to hear in of all the random places! Anyway. Very exciting at the time.  :)

Can Chris or Grant (or anyone who already has the CD) remind me which songs were recorded that weekend? Or more relevantly I guess, which ones actually made it on? I'm getting nostalgic in my extreme old age, this'll be a good way to take Lynah away with me...thanks!

Mike, is it true that Clinton waived his speaker's fee for us? Did you expect that? Just read it on "Dear Uncle Ezra"...

Mike, I'm delighted that you guys were able to get Clinton for the convocation! I'll be able to hold this over my cousin '02 - who had Danny Glover - for the rest of our lives.

I thought the same thing - not only were there very few fish thrown, but the real fish/Swedish fish etc. ratio was lower than I've every seen it. As far as the cops with eager hands, neither I nor my bag were searched. Went through a whole fuss hiding the octopus for nothing.

She dug up his name - it's Steve Fakarzadeh. Did you know him, Jeff?

A friend of mine was telling me about her recent med school interview at UPenn. The guy who interviewed her was a Cornell alumnus and asked her if the students still do "that thing with the newspapers" before the hockey games. When she answered yes, he excitedly claimed that he and his friends had started that. She estimates that he would have been an undergraduate 25 or 30 years ago...I'm curious to know, could what he said be true?

As long as we're this far off topic....  I spent this past summer in Scotland, and the BBC was forever mentioning the "Asian community" of the UK, or describing someone in the news as "Asian", etc - it took me a month (of not being very attentive to the TV) to realize they meant "Indian"! As Avash said, India's in Asia and there's no reason not to describe people from there as Asian - but to me the terms have never been interchangeable. I think that's because over here the word Asian has become associated with physical characteristics more than geography.

On a briefer note, LGR!

Does anyone know the song that they're skating to? Its catchiness will be my ruin...

Heh heh, yeah, exactly... "Stop staring at my chest! I have a DISEASE!"  No, I wore a sports bra to create a shelf-like effect and then put the (smallish, remember) octopus in the middle of the shelf, as it were. If you wear a loose shirt it hardly shows. Foolproof plan, ladies.

My buddy the octopus was well-wrapped in plastic at the time...

My experience has been that they'll search your bag and maybe pat down the sides of your body, but they'll never go anywhere that might get them sued. Last year I snuck in a whole fish, and this year a smallish octopus, both times in my bra, with no problems at all.
