Perfect Screen Printing will put letters/numbers on hockey jerseys, but I've never seen the results myself, and I have no idea about cost.

The place is back behind Wegmans a quarter mile, 245 Cherry street.

Not that I want to rehash this, but I was in the first row against the glass, and Gleed was about 3 feet away from me when he basically picked up and pile-drived the Vermont player.  From that perspective, it was a lot easier for me to see it as a personal, individual mistake rather than Gleed being part of an excellent team.

My immediate reaction was to look at the score, look at the time remaining, and to slap my forehead (literally).  My next reaction was to think: God damn, I hope this doesn't blow the shut-out for LeNeveu.  And then sure enough just a few seconds later that's what happens.  So I was a little pissed, yes.  And I saw Lenny shaking his head and all I could think at that point is how disappointed he must've felt right then.

The reason for me being pissed was not that I felt Gleed is a hopeless idiot, but rather I didn't want it to be rattling around somewhere in the back of LeNeveu's head the next time he takes the ice, the pressure that he's running out of games and therefore it's even more important that he not screw up and let one past in this game, or that he took the Vermont goal personally as his own fault.

In short, I'm rooting for LeNeveu to the point that I'm hesitant to even cheer for him when he makes a save, in the same way that when somebody gets close to beating a major record, teamates will stop looking at the player out of fear of jinxing it (I've played collegiate athletics, not hockey though, and despite what people might say, you get good enough and you risk becoming an unwilling slave to superstition, pre-game and post-game rituals, or if you need a visible example of this, take a look at Lenny's intricate crouch/head-duck/chest-thrust thing he does every time there's a face-off, or the stick/goal-post tapping rituals of basically every goalie in the league).

So in short, I came down hard on Gleed based on my very close proximity to the foul, thus making it easier for me to take it personally, combined with my own hopes that Lenny pulls it off.  If I had posted my message the night of the game, it would've been even harsher, and if I posted it tomorrow, it would've been more delicate.  That's just how it goes, ie, that's just what happened to have been going through my head.

The sleeves are white/red/white and red/white/red for home and away, but there's still something off about them.  I've never handled or seen a game-worn up close, so somebody else will have to figure out exactly what it is.

Just looking at some photos in the archives it looks like maybe the stripes are a bit broader on the knockoffs, but like I said I can't tell for sure.

Addendum: No, it's not mesh.  The manufacturer is "Game Face Athletics", and after the CORNELL letters sewn across the chest there's a little TM in the corner.

What crap?

Do I have to list the ways I love Cornell hockey before I can say something about it that disappoints me?  Grow up.  I love Cornell hockey, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm a human being, rather than a mindless drone incapable of forming opinions that aren't in agreement with the collective consciousness.

Go Big Red!
It sucks that Gleed took that penalty!

See how that works? Humans are capable of a wide range of opinions.

[Q]I would certainly annoint myself the head analyst of Cornell hockey with those stats.[/Q]

You might, but I wouldn't, and for that matter, I didn't.  I strongly believe that we would have gotten a shut-out if it weren't for Gleed's penalty.  I expressed disappointment over that fact, not realizing that many of you had your own happiness so intricately interwoven with the honor of Jon Gleed.  At this point I could just edit my original post, but I have a feeling that would deprive many of you of your fun. So instead, here's what I would have edited my post to read:

By the way, anyone think Gleed got a beatdown for that penalty in the last minutes against Vermont? I was kinda pissed to see LeNevue miss out on breaking a record for shutouts on account of Jon Gleed.

Look, your post expressed basically the exact same sentiments as mine.  I'm disappointed that we didn't get the shut out, as are a lot of people.  If you're trying to tell me that I don't have a right to express an opinion about a sport because I'm not a professional/famous athlete then I think you're a bit off base.

I understand your knee-jerk reaction to instinctively grunt in defense of Cornell, but it IS possible to be a fan of Cornell hockey while still being disappointed with certain aspects of their play.

For example, I'm also disappointed by how poorly we've done on man-advantages this season.  I don't think this should offend you, because in all honesty, what I say isn't going to make Cornell do any worse or better this season.

If you took offense purely to the "no-name" bit, then I'll concede taking that out.

-Chris

Edited: I did miss seeing Jon Gleed on the ice the other 10 games he played in, my bad.

It seemed useful to me to have seperate threads for fake and real jerseys.  I think I'd get laughed at for posting to the other thread, as I'm a bit too cheap/broke/not on daddy's expense account/etc. to be able to afford a real one.

(No offense taken, by the way)

Cecil's College Clothing on College Ave is selling knockoff jerseys.  The only thing worth noting is that yesterday they were $67.50 and today they're on sale for $50.  I think that's the cheapest jersey you can get anywhere. (At least that I've seen).

I'm not sure how exact they are.
