It does show last post author in the right hand column of the thread list.

Looks like that is only true on the desktop site.

Quote from: BearLoverI hadn't realized he was color commentator alongside Al Michaels for the miracle on ice, nor that he was president of the Maple Leafs the last two times they reached the conference finals. RIP

Dryden will always be known for the follow up to Michaels' "Do you believe in miracles? YES!" ... Dryden: "Unbelievable"

He's also prominently heard right before Eruzione's game winner ... "The U.S. team is relying too much on Jim Craig, he's had to make too many big saves" -- BOOM, Eruzione scores.

His book -- not ghost written -- "The Game" is quite simply the best sports book I ever read.

He also makes an appearance in Miracle when they show the original footage at the beginning of the USSR game.

Quote from: mike1960I've been listening to podcasts about championship weekend, and almost universally, commentators have been happy for the Cornell win. Part of the reason is the length of time between championships. Another is the culture and tradition of the program. Also, players they've interviewed have given thoughtful and respectful answers to questions. It's been very satisfying to hear how the program has put such a positive step forward.

What are your favorite podcasts/episodes? Winning the whole shebang is like a drug hit I can't get enough of.

Here's what I've heard so far. If anyone knows of others, please post!

Quint's Lacrosse All Starts Podcast Network:
 6/5 Anish Shroff
 5/28 Brendan Staub (Great!)
 5/20 Championship week preview (interesting)

Inside Lacrosse
 6/1 The Tailgate
5/30 It's a Big Red World (somewhat self-involved, but interview with Ryan Goldstein from before the Harvard game)

First Class Lacrosse Podcast
5/30 First part of the podcast about Cornell's run

The College Lacrosse Show (Jonathan Donville is a co-host) - posted yesterday.

Quote from: CU77That timeout was nowhere close to "one of the worst ever"!

In the moment, I agreed with it. Cornell looked to be about to lose the ball, and I felt that early momentum just after halftime in a one-goal game was important (and so, apparently, did Buczek). You are correct that the player on the ground (Gilmartin I think) flipped a great desperation pass that was successful, but Buczek had already called the timeout.

Over the years there have been many lax games where a timeout is called by the coach just as his team is scoring, wiping out the goal.

And just the day before, on the very same field, this happened:

Agreed.  Also, Buczek has been more aggressive about using the timeout since failing to call one in the first Penn State game when Kirst was pinned on the endline while up 1.  Every possession counts.

Quote from: ERThe fact that people would speculate that he's injured only because he didn't get a single point yet played the entire game, just goes to show you how good he is. Most players don't score points every game and no one assumes they are injured.

The production isn't as concerning to me because the last two teams also largely held him in check during the regular season.

The bigger issue is that he's not moving the way he normally does.  If you watch him in the Ivy League Tournament, you'll see him in constant motion, with lots of cutting, going behind the net, etc.  He really only had a couple cuts against PSU, and it got to the point that PSU felt comfortable locking off Firth at one point and going 5 on 5.  His accuracy has also been way below his usual standard.

That said, he did pick up 10 ground balls against Richmond.  You just hope it's not something getting progressively worse, especially given this short turnaround.
I'm not a lacrosse expert or a medical expert, but CJ had 6 goals against Albany, then 2 goals, 2 assists and 10 GB against Richmond. So until yesterday there was no downturn in production at all. Yesterday, to my eye he was doubled (sometimes even tripled) almost anytime he had the ball for more than a few seconds. He got rid of it quickly almost every time he had the ball, but I couldn't tell if that was because of the double team or because he was physically limited in some way. I'll have to check the tape to see if the defense adjusted by trying to lock down Firth late, but to my eye they were still doubling CJ very late into the game. He did get better looks as the game went on. Was he cutting and dodging less? Maybe, but in the moment I thought that was because the defense was hounding him. The most visibly wrong aspect of his game was how off his shooting was. But again, the defense was on top of him.

I think the prevailing sentiment is that, if anything happened, it happened after the Albany game.  He went 2+2 in the Richmond game but it took a long time to get there and it was his worst shooting performance of the season, maybe ever.  Lots of comments about how it looked like he was running in sand (although that was true of a couple guys).  Again, could just be that the Richmond defender had his number a bit given the similar regular season performance.

Either way, hope he guts it out for one more great performance today!

Quote from: LGR14Bought Section 108 to be next to 107.  Fairly confident Cornell will still be in 107 on Monday. That's where Yale was in 2018 (as the higher seed), and no reason for Cornell to be changed when they're the highest seed in the tournament.

Can someone who bought the package in 107 confirm what your Monday tickets say?

Cornell will still be in 107. The Cornell block that was released for the tournament included both the semis and finals (with a caveat that the finals would be auto-refunded if Cornell did not advance).

Perfect, thank you.

I hope this helps.

Just want to add to the chorus of those who think this is an amazingly helpful post; I have already referred to it often and will likely do so again in the future.

Question for anyone who knows--everyone remembers Blaze Riordan's goal (he was the goaltender) for Albany against Cornell.  But now that I think about it--how was that not offsides?  Did one of Albany's attack players have to get out of the offensive zone because the goaltender was acting as an attack?

And for those who don't want to remember, I don't blame you, but I have to admit that it was the most ridiculous thing to probably ever happen to a team I liked--it just wasn't Cornell's day that day.

You can have 6 guys in the attacking end (3 attack and usually 3 midfielders), so one of the midfielders would have hung back (and were probably in the midst of a change anyway - from the defensive midfielders to the offensive midfielders).

Quote from: dag14I just got an email from Cornell Athletics with this link to purchase tickets.  Not sure who the mailing list is but it says first come, first served for seats in the Cornell section.

Denver to Foxboro is a tough weekend trip so I will be cheering from afar.  I envy those of you who can enjoy in person!

Note that if you buy using the Cornell link, you get tickets to the final only if Cornell advances. So if you want to watch the final regardless, you probably want to get your tickets from a different source.

Quote from: SwampyOK. Now that we know Cornell will be playing next Saturday in Foxboro, here are some questions:
  • Will Cornell receive a block of tickets from NC$$?
  • If so, will Cornell sell them to alumni too?
  • Also if so, where will the Cornell section be? / Or, how can we find out where?
  • Also if so, when will they go on sale?
  • Will there be any functions planned for Cornell fans? When & where?

In 2022, the Athletics Office told me that they received an allotment for friends and family and any unused tickets would be sold online starting Wednesday.  That was a smaller stadium, but seems like same would likely apply here.  The Cornell section also moved between the semis and the final, although the Maryland section stayed the same.

I assume because Cornell is the top seed, they would have the same section on Saturday and Monday, if they make it to Monday?

Quote from: KenPDo we know yet where the quarterfinal games will be played? Higher seed campus or neutral site(s)?

All right, I'm going to be the wet blanket here—we have to win Sunday night first.
I really don't remember the Albany game earlier in the season. Didn't they hang with us for a while?
I know nothing about Siena.

Cornell was up 7-1 after 1 and then 12-4 after 2, so not really.  Their winning streak at the end of the season has largely come against lesser competition.  But they know what to expect if they play us again, and maybe that results in a closer game.
