Thanks for the updates!  Are the penalties fall-behind-and-hook calls or for something respectable?

The Brown site is telling me "The system cannot locate the resource specified."
I can't find a free audio link on the Cornell site.

Anyone else having problems?

Maybe instead we could please the woofing gods by nominating players at other schools?

Speaking of frustrated, gametracker hasn't been working for me the last couple weeks.  It just loads up the ad at the bottom and the USCHO link along the right side.  That, and there's no working audio or a game thread going...

:`(   Somehow I'll survive (and probably get more work done)

Hockey / Majors for piddly shit

It's hard to tell listening to the radio, but it seems like there are a lot more major penalties being called lately.  Are people bleeding a lot more, or are the refs just handing out majors for what should be minor infractions?  is this a less advertised part of the "crackdown"?

Most of the grad schools I'm familiar with run on a similar (or easier) scale.  Frankly, a low B+ average is fairly harsh if the program requires a 3.3 (as did mine) or 3.5 (as did my wife's) average to complete the Ph.D.  UC Santa Barbara's ECE Department has one professor who insists on grading grad classes on a C average, and it completely fouls up the system.  They'd do something about it, but he founded the department, is a Nobel laureate, and is almost retired anyway...

Hey...  I just had a thought.  I think some of us alums should write to Gene Nighman asking him to show more respect to Cornell's values by curbing his dishonesty in the future.  Heh heh heh... :-}

I repeat that, lacking an actual reference to the ECAC putting Cornell on notice, I suspect that the administration is simply quoting the normal rule in an intimidating way.  That, and since there's going to be fish thrown anyway, we might as well throw a lot of them

Frankly, and I'm just playing a hunch here, I don't think the ECAC has handed Mr. Nighman a formal warning.  If they had, he probably would have quoted and attributed it... I think he's just stating the existing rule in an imposing way to dissaude people from throwing fish.  I think he's full of crap.  And if I weren't in Santa Barbara right now, I'd be loading up on fish heads.

Just playing a hunch here, but Mr Nighman is being awfully vague about this threat of a penalty.  I have to wonder whether this year's officials will actually treat it any differently than they usually do, or whether Mr Nighman is taking the usual "don't throw fish after warmups" ruling, and trying to convince people it means something else.

And if they're going to call a minor for any fish on the ice, we might as well throw several thousand.
