Does anyone know if film/footage of that 1962 win over Harvard even exists?

Happy Randy Wilson Day everybody! Would have loved to be there for that. Here's a new article from the Big Red Sports Network about that great day 36 years ago: http://bigredsportsnetwork.org/?p=1593

Hockey / Old Cornell Hockey Videos/Photos
March 03, 2015, 03:11:43 AM
I mentioned a while back that the Big Red Sports Network is producing a Cornell Hockey Documentary this year. In terms of archival footage, and in-game footage, we have gathered almost everything we need except for a few big ones:

- 1962 Game vs. Harvard (when Kennedy made 48 saves)
- 1967 National Championship Game and Semifinal
- 1970 National Championship Game and Semifinal
- Any NCAA games from 1968, 1969 or 1971
- Harvard game where Schafer broke the stick over his head

If anyone has video, or even photos, from these games (or knows where to find them), please let me know, or email me at abd76@cornell.edu. I've searched the archives in the library and athletic communications, and can't find these videos. I'd also (and this is a long shot obviously) be willing to take any footage or photos people might have of the Beebe Lake era teams. Thanks so much.

I've had trouble in the past with Union's online streaming. Before I spend the money on the stream, are there any other links to videos of the game?

Hockey / Cornell Hockey Documentary
September 27, 2014, 10:15:56 PM
This year the Big Red Sports Network, Cornell's student-run sports coverage team, will be producing a Cornell Hockey Documentary. This documentary will cover everything from the history of the program, to the Lynah Faithful and the hockey culture at Cornell. We've already looked at many old game films and newspaper stories from the library archives, and we've been given access to all the information that Athletic Communications department has. However, we are still looking for help.

If anyone is interested in helping out, whether it's being interviewed, suggesting ideas or even just sharing cool stories from years past, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, if by any chance anyone has any home movies/audio recordings or pictures from old games and would be willing to share them, that would be amazing. If you'd like to help out or have any questions, feel free to email me at abd76@cornell.edu.

Thanks,
Andrew

If the Faithful could learn some of this song, that would be awesome

One of the most impressive team performances I have ever seen in any sport. Union looked like the Soviet team from the 1970s and 80s with how well they played with each other. Regardless of what this means for Cornell and the ECAC, let's just take a moment to congratulate Union on a truly impressive run

I've watched Union play and I think their goalie is vastly overrated. He's obviously better than the average college goalie, but he has such a low GAA because Union controls the puck and the play of the game probably better than any team in the country. If Minnesota can get the same amount of scoring chances they'll have a great chance of coming back

Union doesn't worry me too much recruiting wise because their campus is hideous, Schenectady is shittier than New Haven, and many high schools have nicer rinks than them (and academically they are definitely improving, but not at Cornell's level, although this can be a double-edged sword). Because of Lynah, the history, and our location, we'll definitely always do pretty well recruiting wise. I'm more interested in seeing whether success of other ECAC schools will force Schafer to change up his system. I know he's been doing this for a long time, but part of being a coach is adapting with the times, and not being predictable. What's interesting is that Union doesn't have many NHL prospects on its team, and I'm pretty sure when they made the Frozen Four two years ago, not single player was a draft pick (although Grosenick ended up leaving early).

I hate to see Ferlin go, as he scored at least three game winning goals this year (At Yale, at Qpac, and of course Clarkson). But while that does suck, if our offense was so terrible this year, maybe changing it up will help? He was a puck hog, but he was getting better at passing. Even though he is far from being NHL ready, I don't think he's going to get any better staying here (especially w/ Schafer's system), so I can definitely see this decision. I wish him well, but I think he'll struggle to get minutes, especially on a team as stacked as the Bruins

Haggerty should have some success (barring injury) in the NHL. The guy is an absolute sniper

I've been wondering this question all season. Even if they lost that Game 3 to Clarkson he I'd say he should stay, but he needs to make some changes. I think the issue is now the ECAC is WAY more competitive now than it has ever been. This team is about as good as the one 2 years ago (and they made the regional finals in the NC$$), but the only difference is that year the only team worth a damn in the ECAC was Union (who we were 1-0-1 against that year!), so we had very few games (i.e Colgate and Harvard) that were against quality opponents. In the early to mid-2000s, there was usually only us and one or maybe two other teams that could put up a fight in the NC$$ tourney (usually Harvard or Clarkson, and that one year Princeton was really good). This year, the ECAC had SIX teams (Union, Colgate, Qpac, Cornell, Clarkson and Yale) who were threats. Schafer's system worked fine a decade ago, but he needs to change some things up. And I know he has his ways, but isn't a coach's job to make adjustments? At least fix the power play for God's sake. If we had even an average one, we could still be playing right now

Hockey / Re: Lake Placid Attendance
March 18, 2014, 12:27:47 AM
There's a fair amount of students here who want to go to the game, and are more than willing to buy tickets, but either have no means of transportation to get there, or no place to stay. If the University offered some sort of transportation or something, I'm sure a bunch of students would do it. Or you could just be in the pep band and get to go for free! I'm aware that Lake Placid being even more in the middle of nowhere than Ithaca will probably negatively impact attendance, but I'm excited to see where the Miracle on Ice happened at least

Is there no consolation game this year? I haven't seen any information about one? And if there isn't one, why'd they get rid of it?

We generally played pretty well, but had a few very lucky bounces in front of a net, and were completely gifted a penalty call with 1:48 to go that put us on a power play, and essentially clinched the game. Andy should've had that penalty shot, but generally played pretty well, especially after a Clarkson player knocked him in the head while he was out of the box (he was eventually ejected). We also scored on the ensuing major power play! First time we've had a PP goal at Lynah since Bardreau's 5 on 3 PP goal against Colgate back in December I believe. But Clarkson didn't exactly bring their A game, except for at the end of the second period. I feel somewhat confident about tomorrow, but honestly with this team you never know
