Hockey / TV Coverage vs Union and RPI
January 13, 2015, 07:45:50 AM
Does anyone know if the Ivy League Network will pick up the feed for the Cornell vs Union and RPI this weekend?  Time Warner is broadcasting both games
but I am not able to get TW in NH. Last weekend I was fortunate to get the St Lawrence and Clarkson feeds directly at no charge which brings me to another subject. If Clarkson, St Lawrence and Colgate and perhaps others provide video coverage for free to their audiences, than why can't Cornell?  I suspect it probably is an Ivy League contract that was agreed upon by Ivy schools.

#1 in nation in defense, #55 in scoring, 30th in PWR.
Stats don't lie. This just isn't working.
Acknowledging that we are the host team in Florida annually and the trophy is named after Ned Narkness, it might be time to consider playing one of the
two allowable exhibition games after break instead of preseason replacing this tourney. These games mean too much Pairwise to continue.
Maybe even host a holiday tourney as was the case in years past.

Hockey / Re: Next round of conference realignments?

Unless I am naïve and  your Northern Arizona comment is tongue in cheek, they are a Division 1 school already and participate in 15 D1 sports granting athletic scholarships. Thus, the issue of needing to be grandfathered in is not relevant.
The Ivy League is their own worst enemy already. I understand why football only plays 10 games and starts the third week of September to allow incoming students time to get settled, but playing six less games per year in hockey starting three weeks later than everyone else not only creates significant problem in competing against out of conference teams but hurts recruiting. Six addition games per year or 24 over a career is significant in development
toward what most recruits hope will lead them towards the next level.  Hockey in this regard is different than other sports. I say this though fully supporting the Ivy League concept of true student/athletics.

First, I think we have a regit goalie in Mitch. He is keeping  us in games.
We don't get offense minded recruits because of the system. Third in the country presently in team  defense and dead last in offense.
Outshot 19-1 in last period is ridiculous. Stats are for losers usually but these don't lie.
I am a Shafer fan but this style of hockey is outdated especially with current rule changes.
The question is, if you were a top recruit with professional aspirations, why would you come to Cornell to play.
Not panic time yet but there could be a lot of crickets at Lynah if this continues.

You couldn't be more wrong. Two snaps with no time outs you take a knee. Cornell took their last timeout which is the right thing to do.
Has nothing to do with running up the score once out of time outs

Some things never change. Leading by 17 point with seconds left on the clock, rather than take a knee to end the game, Harvard goes for the touchdown.
Even the announcers on Fox College Sports remarked that it was bush.
 Stay classy Harvard.

It seems if Cornell wins tonight against Clarkson and should both Colgate and Cornell lose their semifinal games at Lake Placid
both team could very easily be eliminated. The decision not to play a consolation game could really bite the league right in the ass not
allowing one of the teams a win to secure an NCAA spot.

Hockey / Re: 2013-14 Schedule

The Niagara game was a no brainer to expect. Now my focus is Snapper's post regarding a Colgate game at Yankee Stadium. Is there actually merit to this rumor
or just on a wish list?

I find it rather odd that we are this deep in the schedule planning process and still don't have the 29th game. I suspect the result being an Atlantic Hockey League team and most likely
Niagara or a team willing to travel a shorter distance to play a single game. Frankly, I would prefer a Penn State matchup but don't see that being a reality. Any thoughts?

Hockey / Re: ECAC back to Lake Placid 2014

Was just in lake Placid on thursday for the first time in a few years. The facility has been upgraded and the town is already promoting the ECAC Playoffs. Now lets just be sure to get there. I'm tempted to make reservations now but hope I'm not doing my best talking about a no hitter jinx.

Does anyone know who the 29th game is this year and the date it can be squeezed into the schedule?
