on a side note...after an inappropriate e-mail to ms. Griffin, I was informed that no one was getting fired and no one had jumped off any gorges.

I've omitted the names of the innocent, but not the name of the idiot that sent it.  Here's a copy of what was sent out to the 550 rejected Early admission applicants:

Subject: Cornell Updates!
Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 08:19:14 -0500

Dear ,

Greetings from Cornell, your future alma mater!

Congratulations on your acceptance into the class of 2007! I am
delighted that you will be joining us as a new freshman in the fall,
and I hope you are enjoying the end of your senior year, knowing that
all of your college decisions are behind you.

In early April, you will be receiving a large packet from Cornell
containing housing, dining, and financing information. If you have
questions about these topics, I would ask that you wait until after
you have received your packet to be in touch. We hope the brochures
we send you will address most of your concerns.

Although we are in the thick of winter here, our students are busy
enjoying some great February events! Former U.S. Attorney General
Janet Reno (Cornell Class of 1960) has been on campus for two weeks
this month as a visiting Frank H.T. Rhodes Class of '56 University
Professor. She has given two open lectures, participated in class
discussions, and even directed the pep band at a Cornell Hockey
game!

Speaking of hockey, Cornell's men's hockey team is currently ranked
#2 nationally! We are the ECAC division leader and are looking
forward to post-season competition. Hockey fever is sweeping the
campus - feel free to check out the athletics Web site
(www.cornellbigred.com) for more information.

Finally, this past weekend many students took part in the 27th
annual Festival of Black Gospel with Karen Clark Sheard of the Clark
Sisters. The three-day event also featured local and regional artists
and choirs who came to the Cornell community to share in the
celebration of Black Gospel music. For more information about this
and other events on campus, please visit our events calendar at:
cuinfo.cornell.edu/Events/Calendar/.

Again, we are proud to have you as a member our freshman class. I
hope you are as excited as we are about your becoming a Cornellian!

All the best to you,

Angela Griffin-Jones

Hockey / Re: slope day

Slope fest:

for me slope fest was a place to go, when I was so trashed that the angle of the slope made it difficult for me to stand and gravity carried me to west campus instead of the arts quad.   In my drunkeness, I found the water hydrating, the band a bit hazy, and the large inflatable, bouncy things great to pass-out on.  The purpose of Slope fest is, in my eyes, to make those few amongst us that don't drink be able to have a great time on Slope Day, without the over-exposure to alcohol consumption.  So, to those that participated in slope fest sober, what did you think??  did you get drunk off the fun or were you driven to drink by boredom??

                     -Mill-AR

oh and to the oldies out there...I'm still interested in slope day back in the day...

well, the Great White Hunter's lame-duck presidency is now in session.  For those of you that don't know Hunter is trying to insert his dickliness, where it's not wanted.  For information and to sign a petition allowing student government officers more slope day steering power see... www.saveslopeday.com .

Also, for you oldies out there, tell us youngins what Slope Day was like when it first started and also those not so youngins/not old yet, what happened around the time the drinking age changed and how have students by-passed NY regulations in the past?

             Thanks,
                Matt

Hockey / Re: The Polls...
December 10, 2002, 02:35:12 AM
So, I didn't want to jinx our meaningless polls and be too "I think that Cornell is superior to your shit hockey program" with my liberal poll predictions, but after sunday's games I came up with where I thought that everyone should be ranked:

01 NODAK
02 MAINE
03 CC
04 CORNELL
05 UNH
06 BC
07 DENVER
08 MINNESOTA
09 HARVARD(SUCKS)
10 FERRIS
11 MICHIGAN
12 OHIO ST
13 MIAMI
14 (SCREW)BU
15 N MICHIGAN

Others: Providence, Massachusetts, Yale, Dartmouth, Minn-Dul, St. Cloud, Quinnipiac

With the exception of Harvard and a couple of "others", I was dead balls on the money.  Usually I think that we're extremely underrated and I think the the poll people need to spend more time licking my nut-sack, I believe that this time Cornell really got the respect that it deserved and I congratulate the pollers on being able to suck it up and be able to admit that Cornell is a national hockey powerhouse that's not to be reckoned with.

dudes, I'm absolutely trashed right now, so if that made no sense at all, I apologize in advance.

speaking of Hahvahd...our next meeting should be fantastic for those who have tickets.  Speaking of that...does anyone know that there is a Ticket Exchange Forum on the left of this page, second link from the top.  There's some poor bastard(me) that desperately is looking for 1 or 2 Harvard Away game tickets...his pleas are rather pathetic, but he would seriously do anything to go to that game.

                     Thanks,
                         ass

It's good to see us win in a situation where we're not up 3-0 after 1.  We can play under pressure...

I thought it would be interesting to see what you guys think today's game's final score will be. There is a pattern going (wins the past three games of 4-1, 5-1, 6-1) so a 7-1 win would be cool.

I BLAME THE CHODE!!!

hmm...I'm retracting that last post.  I was just IMed by Justin and apparently the Chode felt threatened by my metaphorical "beating".(BigNachoCU: i suggest you pull your post).  So, regardless of the outcome of tonight's game, no physical nor psychological damage will befall the Chode.  However, future irresponsible predictions will be picked on with greater fervor, minus any metaphorical "threats".

You've done it now Chode!  If we lose tonight due to your upsetting the gods of College Hockey fate, you're getting the beating of a lifetime.  I know where you sleep Chode, I know where you sleep...
