Hockey / Dougie in Post Standard
November 07, 2002, 09:48:26 PM
There was an article about Murray in this morning's Post Standard (11/7).
Here's the link: http://www.syracuse.com/localcolleges/poststandard/index.ssf?/base/news-0/10113675178051126.xml

In the paper it had a picture of him with a Yale guy, and Vesce and another Yale guy were in the background.

Apparently Queen Elizabeth is interested in hockey, or at least in hockey fans...

The new rink in Skaneateles will have ice this summer. There are some summer leagues playing on it.  But i'm sure you'd have to pay a pretty penny to use it.

Hockey / Newy and the cup!
April 22, 2002, 04:25:52 PM
I just got the latest issue of "American Hockey Magazine"  (it comes with American Hockey Membership) with its main article as: "Travels With Stanley."  I anxiously flipped to the article hoping to find Neiwy's Cornell story in there somewhere. Lo and behold..there it was:
"And making for a good TV commercial is what the 2000 ESPN spot of Dallas's Joe Nieuwendyk using the Cup as a Jell-O mold.  But that was only for the TV spot.  In reality, Nieuwendyk used the cup to serve french fries at a party.
And to Nieuwendyk's eternal credit he also took the Cup to his alma matter, Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., where, in what must have been a poignant moment, Prof. Dave Sisler, who is blind, ran his hands over the Cup, feeling what so many of us have been lucky enough to see."

No mention of Dunbar's.... ::uhoh::  ::laugh::

Besides that, lacrosse was invented to be played as training for war by native americans...and don't you think they'd still fight no matter how muddy it got? ::nut::
