Hockey / OT - Dryden's Next Step
April 28, 2006, 09:49:34 AM
Dunno if this has already been posted here or not. A quick glance didn't indicate so.

Looks like Dryden is attempting another step up in his political career ...

Hockey / Ticket question
November 16, 2005, 09:38:42 AM
I posted this on the Ticket Exchange forum first by accident cause I'm a bit of a ditz this morning!

Does anyone know how many tix the box office saves for game day sales?
I know there is a small quantity but how small is it? And do both Friday's and Saturday's tix go on sale friday morning or are they open again saturday morning/afternoon for game day sales? Finally, if you are too far away to be at the office in person, if you call that morning can you still get these tix? Just curious cause it is my last hope for 2 tix to this week-end's RPI game!  ::help::

judy posing as melissa...

there were some ohio state fans up in the second tier, but they were really quiet. the pep band....wanted to strangle them with my bare hands...we only lasted half a period sitting near them. of course, we only lasted half the game since it was so boring that i was trying to figure out if it'd be more worth my while to take out the entire ohio state pep band/cheering crew or myself...and couldn't quite figure out an entertaining enough way to take out the cheering section.
anyone at the game, what was that brown, non badger mascot thing that wisconsin had?
and fwiw, neither maine nor harvard came out looking as i was expecting.  harvard didn't seem to be playing as well as they looked last weekend and yet, they were keeping up with maine, which made me think maine really wasn't playing up to potential. by the second period, maine was waking up, harvard was still harvard and by the third, maine was definitely in control....
echoing past sentiments, if harvard had to lose, at least they put 4 goals on howard...

and the harvard 'fan' section, yes it was quite empty. they're on spring break and it seems those 18 fans (yes, they've tripled from the 6 jerk fans) that were there for the ecac championships even thought spring break was more important than cheering on their team in the ncaa tournament.

Maybe there's something wrong with me but it really doesn't bother me. It certainly did 2 years ago when we lost to them in double ot. I personally find that there is a HUGE difference in seeing them win against Clarkson (the team that eliminated us at home) and the last Placid experience. More or less ditto what Fred said earlier in the week.  Plus - who knows - maybe we're starting a pattern ... ;-)

I gotta say that at the games last week-end I was cheering whole heartedly for Harvard and having a great time doing so. I was very happy that they came away with the title since we couldn't. I have no idea why but having them win ended up being the best case scenario in my mind. Despite heading into the rink with no real preference I found myself cheering Ivy and when the final game came down to the Knights and Harvard there was no question who I was cheering for. Heck I was even grinning like a fool when they won. Can't explain. Weird but true. I look forward to cheering them on again tonite as they face a much steeper challenge ...  ::twitch::

OK. For someone who hasn't had the opportunity to watch a net broadcasted  game yet this year please inform ... What version of WMP do I need? Thanks in advance!

Parking likely will be $5-10 ... but if you get there early on sat you might be able to get free street parking (no cost for meters on Sat - i think).

Places to stay ... Cornell's hotel here tends to be the Best Western near the airport. It isn;t that bad from what I know.  Also ok (tho maybe a bit pricey - I'm not sure) is the Wingate near the airport (where I stayed when I came to interview for my job). The Mariotts on Wolf Rd and on Washington Ave extension are also decent.

Hockey / Smoore
March 09, 2004, 01:38:29 AM
This is kinda off topic but since he's a former ECAC player I figured it is relevant.

Smoore was hurt really bad when the heated rivalry between the Canucks and the Avs reached a new and disturbing level. He was taken out on a stretcher after the sickest play of retaliation I've ever seen.  After being smashed into the ice head first, with his neck at an odd angle, he was treated to a 5-10 ft face skid at the bottom of a pile of guys.

Smoore may have played for Harvard but he's an ECAC alum and I've enjoyed watching him play for the Avs. I just hope it isn't as serious as it looked.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that since the Hockey Canada emblem is there in honor of team Canada then "Lenny" is there perhaps in honor of CU? I haven't heard anyone call him this in the AHL yet (and in volunteering with the Rats in their Communications department I've had several conversations with Scouts, reporters, etc about him) and while he played for team Canada everyone referred to him as Dave or LeNeveu - was he perhaps given the name at Cornell?

Yup. Averaging about 80 the whole drive should be around 2:15 (my usual time). Since I've been living in Albany for the past 2.5 years I've done this trip a lot!
