Hockey / Playoff Ticket Refunds
April 19, 2016, 04:13:01 PM
Last week, I stopped at the Ticket Office to return my Sunday playoff tickets for a refund.  When I inquired why I hadn't gotten any emails about this, Sue told me that none would be sent out this year.  The "policy" can be found in the fine print on the back of the ticket.  Assuming you can read the small font (I couldn't), it says something to the effect that "Refunds will be made until 4/30/2016.  Unclaimed money will go to the Cornell Athletics General Fund".  This means if you want the Sunday Playoff Ticket money to support Men's Ice Hockey, you need to get your refund and then make a specific donation to Men's Ice Hockey.

I suspect most of the Lynah Faithful Townies want to specifically support Men's Ice Hockey, not Cornell Athletics in general. If that's the case with you, you've got about 10 days to request your refund and then contribute it to Men's Ice Hockey when you want.

I strongly believe unclaimed Playoff Ticket refunds should automatically go to the specific athletic program.  The Athletic Office should be ashamed of their slightly deceptive practices (especially the decision to not even send reminders to season ticket holders).

Curious minds want to know - why were there no goal judges?

Last night's Cornell team failed to shoot the puck while on the power play.  By my count, they might have had 3 shots on goal in the first 5 power plays.  In the York game, for the 1st time in years, the power play units actually did shoot often and scored.  They need to get back to that fundamental element and remember that if you don't shoot, you won't score.

Also, it seems Cornell has had difficulty clearing the puck.  Their clearing efforts often end up on the stick of the opponent or just barely get outside the zone.  On penalty kill, their clears rarely make it over the red line.

The talent is there.  The offense, not so much.

As for the crowd, it wasn't into the game and there wasn't even a "Townies up!" chant.

Did anyone else notice that Kennedy appeared to be playing hurt?  He was favoring his left arm/hand for at least the 2nd half of the game.

FYI,

There were two busloads of RIT students (RIT provided free round-trip transportation to the first 110 students who signed up), and they had to leave immediately after their game.  So, their leaving should not be held against them.

I, too, was impressed and entertained by their cheering.  Their profanity, not so much...

So, shouldn't I be rewarded for reporting this and get 1 free ticket to the Harvard game? :-P

Hockey / Ticket Exchange

There has been no activity on the Ticket Exchange since 10/29/2009.  That is the day before the eLynah Forum software was updated, I believe.  This lack of activity seems rather odd, what with the Harvard game tonight and the flurry of activity on Craigslist.  So, might it be that there is a problem with that forum?  Curious minds (and a guy who wants to get 1 ticket without getting ripped off) want to know.
