Fab. And I think this is actually closer to Carnelian red than RPI red, anyhow.
"RPI Red" is actually called "Cherry".
And just for the record:
Some give credit to legendary hockey and lacrosse coach Ned Harkness, who came to the Hill in 1963. He changed the color of the hockey uniforms to bright red (perhaps because that was what he was accustomed to, after eighteen years at RPI); other Cornell sports teams followed suit.
I'm going to start counting the number of times you post that. I count 3 times in the past year alone. I have two comments: 1) the word "perhaps" indicates something that is purely speculative. 2) By your own admission, RPI's color is Cherry, not Red. Ned certainly didn't bring anything called "Cherry" to Ithaca. Therefore, I'll thank RPI fans to cease and desist all cheers containing the word "Red" when referring to RPI. We've got enough lawyers here...who wants to start a class-action suit against the phrase "Big Red Freakout?" I'll settle out of court for a collection of all the Freakout toys and gifts.
Wisconsin and Nebraska are next!

RPI uses an exclamation point, not a question mark, in the name "Big Red Freakout!". :-D Also, please note that it is the "Big Red Freakout!" not the "Big-Red Freakout!", so there should be no Cornell copyright violation.
And you do, indeed, have enough lawyers. :-}

A class action suit?? Who besides Cornell would be in the class of plaintiffs?!
And against the phrase?! That poor phrase - I hope it can find a good attorney to defend it!

"Blah blah blah, I'm a lawyer. I'm going to seriousitate your little joke." Yes Beeeej, I'm going to sue the phrase on behalf of all Big Reds out there.
Hey, that phrase doesn't have a leg to stand on. I show no pity towards that phrase. The only phrase in the ECACHL that I hate more (now that "play-in game" is gone) is "ECACHL Champion Harvard Crimson."
What's up this week with people not taking jokes very well?

Cornell Big Red isn't hyphenated. (That's Harvard). Perhaps you should specify a pause...like the Stanford Band does when referring to the "Leyland Stanford Junior (pause) University"
And thanks for yet another way to mock the "please show up and cheer this one game" event. From now on, I'll spell it "big red freakout?" or maybe a rotation of punctuation. Didn't realize I was spelling it wrong all these years. ;-)

And how. I refer the Right Honorable Gentleman to the answer I gave some moments ago. :-) :-D

I can accept the use of "(pause)" instead of a hyphen.:-)
Before I get into further trouble with the Cornell Nation, have you copyrighted the pseudonym "Sucks" referring to the second best college in Cambridge, Massachusetts? It seems appropriate as an RPI fan to use it due to the Huxley Incident over the summer. :-)

Go ahead, but I didn't know the Longy School of Music had a hockey team. :-)
Oh, and sorry to Age for hijacking his admin thread with this drivel. Thanks for moving it out.

Well, I certainly didn't exclude myself. ;-)

It seems appropriate as an RPI fan to use it due to the Huxley Incident over the summer. :-)
Please explain.
I'll try to make this short. Details can be found on several threads on USCHO where Bothman essentially took on the entire RPI contingent.
About a year ago, RPI received a commitment from a defenseman named Chris Huxley from Noble and Greenough for the class entering in the Fall of 2006 (this semester). Huxley had a phenomenal season for Nobles in 2006-7, averaging more than a point per game from the blueline (30-18-26-44). He was according to Fridgen RPI's top recruit. It was felt by people like Chris Heisenberg and that editor of USHR that had Huxley not committed to RPI earlier, he would have received offers by higher profile schools. I don't doubt that.
Within two or three days after Fridgen's resignation, it was announced that Huxley had left RPI's fold and agreed to go to Harvard in 2007. Although letters of intent can be ignored when a coach leaves, and RPI doesen't use LOI's anyway, it was generally felt that there had to have been some contact between Donato and Huxley earlier. RPI's AD also stated that he and RPI's assistant coaches (who were only let go later after Appert was hired) had assured all of RPI's recruits that they were still wanted and all, including Huxley, said that they would still attend RPI. Since RPI's staff answered phone calls and kept in contact with the recruits, we didn't think that this case was analogous to Nick Dodge leaving Princeton for Clarkson a year earlier.
Anyway, that's a summary. More details can be found by searching for Huxley in USCHO. He is playing in the USHL this year, and so far isn't putting up particularly good numbers.
