It looks like it's not just Cornell that's trying to make a quick buck off of sports (with the Internet broadcasts).
CNNSI.com is reporting today that HIGH SCHOOL basketball games in Ohio are going to be broadcast on cable tv Pay-per-view because of star Lebron James. I don't care how good he is, this is just mortifying:

Except that Cornell's not even expecting to make a buck off of RealPass; they're just helping an outside company make a buck off of us rather than put in the effort to keep the webcasts free-to-listen. Which of course only rankles more. We're not paying the expenses; we're lining the pockets of RealNetworks.
If LeBron James were not playing, they probably wouldn't be showing those games on TV at all. I don't have a problem with this.
Yet, you can listen to NFL games for free on the internet, with links on NFL.com making it easy to do.
i dont have a problem with the high school charging money...as long as it is going back to the high school. but i have a question -- if mr james gets better text books does that make him inelligible for the ncaa ;-) ::nut::
I don't think Mr. James is too concerned with what and will not make him ineligible for college ball....
