Title: Staying or Going?
Post by: Cactus12 on July 09, 2006, 08:59:30 PM
This is just a thread for some thoughts and speculation...

Is O'Byrne going to stay? Any other surprise signings?

Competitive or rebuilding?
(I know it's early to tell...)

No, No, competitive.

Clearly he'd do well at the AHL level for Montreal, but I have to imagine that Schafer had a serious talk with him about his intentions before letting him wear the A next season. I have a lot of hope that he'll play his senior season.

The A didn't stop Hynes last year.

I'd guess that there's still at least a significant chance that O'Byrne will leave this summer.  Enough so that I won't be surprised if/when it happens.

Which might signal an even more serious talk than that between Hynes and Schafer?

Supposedly, Shane's decision caught Cornell completely off guard last year, which reminds us that no matter how serious the conversation, things change.

I can't imagine Montreal thinking O'Byrne is ready to move up, but I seem to never see his best games, either.  McKee and Pokulok, sure.  O'Byrne?

Rebuilding *is* competitive these days.  Hopefully there is a sort of ratchet effect that Cornell is benefitting from -- even the lows now are pretty damn good.
