UMASS takes MD 8-5 in the first semifinal. Very strong overall performance by the close-in defense and goalkeeper. It's small consolation, but UMASS' success certainly helps validate our season.
Not sure if we should feel better having lost to one of the two finalists ... or a whole lot worse knowing that could have been Cornell ready to face the Virginia guns Monday for the title.
Amazing how much of a community and turnout has built around the lacrosse championships. Maybe college hockey could do this, too, if the arena held 50,000 (except the only way is some dumb idea like an outdoor football stadium with a rink put in the middle - great for getting seats except every seat will be too far way unless you're the team manager or Louis Chabot.).
Syracuse in the second game showed flashes of offensive brilliance ... along with some JV high school quality missed passes.
I don't buy the 'we lost to the champion/finalist' theory. lots of teams lost to them... it just makes us another step those teams took to success

Well, except for the outdoor part, the NC$$ has already had that dumb idea (http://ccha.cstv.com/sports/m-hockey/spec-rel/062305aab.html).

It made me feel a lot better about the loss to Wisconsin. Though I didn't feel very bad about it in the first place, so it didn't take much. :-)
Same thought as the last two games: This could have been Cornell instead of UMass advancing ... and getting clobbered by Virginia.
Nice to see the Division II and III champs coming from the Finger Lakes: Cortland State and LeMoyne.
UMass' goalie was amazing.
