Post by: jtwcornell91 on May 08, 2006, 09:17:42 AM
... are underway in Riga.  USA and Canada are 2-0 and play tomorrow at 13:15 EDT for first place in their group (and two more carry-over points).  Switzerland is 1-0 and play Ukraine in a few minutes.

No video this year, but there's a live audio webcast of all the USA games at http://usahockey.com/

Sweden crushes the Czech Republic for the Championship, and they get the double! First ever winners of Olympic gold and the World Championship in the same year (and a double whuppin of the Czechs, 4-0 today and 7-3 in the Olympic semis). They did it with a decent-at-best goalie in Holmqvist and without Hannula, who was rightly suspended because of a horrible cross-check on Crosby in the World semis. Niklas Kronwall (Red Wings) won MVP. What an unbelievable year for Tre Kronorna.
