I can't believe they're thinking about getting rid of "Live free or die."  It's easily the best state motto.

New York plates should be changed to simply read, "New York.  Fuck off."

Quote"I think {'Live Free or Die' is} an in-your-face motto. It's misinterpreted. It's out of context. That's not who we are," said state Rep. Tim Robertson, a Democrat.
So you are for what, exactly? Servitude? Goddamn is my party embarrassing sometimes.

On the other hand, most of the article indicates that HN is leaning towards using the phrase more, not less.

It's not a state, but how about New Orleans's unofficial "Be nice or leave"?

And here I thought New Orleans' official motto was "Montrez-nous votre tetons!"

Bien fait.

A tad different scenery in New Orleans then "Les Grand Tetons" in Wyoming.

I suppose On peux les deux monter.  :-)

QuoteThen, in an effort to bring some consistency to a jumble of highway welcome signs, the state moved to install new ones reading, "You're going to love it here."

But lots of people — including the governor — hate them.

A proposal to replace "love it" with the state's official motto, "Live Free or Die,"

"You're going to live free or die here"?  ::laugh::
For anyone else who opted to take Spanish in high school.
I took Spanish in high school but was able to reverse engineer the phrase from "tetons." Aren't I brilliant.

I got stuck on "Montrez-nous".
Babelfish had been mentioned on ELF before, so I knew right away where to get "translation help" and after that I was able to figure out where the thread drift was heading.  ;-)
