Title: So.Cal. Viewing 3/25&26
Post by: howiem98 on March 20, 2006, 11:34:13 AM
Hey everybody, we will be watching Cornell's NCAA game(s) this weekend.  The issue is where and when.  We will watch somewhere in the 310 or 213 area code.  So far all I can tell is that ESPNU will have the Saturday C.U.-Colorado College game on tape delay at 8:30PM Pacific, and that the Sunday game (if we win Saturday) will be live.  Please check back here, or at www.cornellclubla.com, for further details later in the week.

Saturday's game will be live on FS North (channel 641 on DirecTV). The question is what happens if they run over the 8 PM Wild game.

Thanks for organizing!

Title: So.Cal. Viewing 3/25&26: Final Info
Post by: howiem98 on March 22, 2006, 11:03:37 PM
We will be watching both games at the Grand Avenue Bar in the Biltmore Hotel in downtown LA. -- 506 S. Grand Ave., tel. (213) 612-1532.

We will watch the CU-CC game on TAPE DELAY at 8:30PM Pacific on Saturday night, and then if we win, at 2PM Pacific Sunday.  AS THE SATURDAY NIGHT GAME IS ON A SIX HOUR TAPE DELAY (Sunday's game will be live), DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, COME TO THE SATURDAY GAME IF YOU KNOW WHO WON. I CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH. (LAST YEAR EVERYONE COOPERATED AND OUR VEWING OF TAPE DELAYED CU-OHIO STATE PLAYOFF GAME WENT FINE.)

PARKING:  Pershing Square on 5th and Olive ($5 after 5PM), or on the street.
For more info re the Grand Avenue Bar, see http://losangeles.citysearch.com/profile/103056.

I'm not really interested in watching this on a huge tape delay, so I called down to Yankee Doodles on the Santa Monica Promenade, and they're getting the game and said they'd put it on a TV for me. If anyone wants to join me and my wife, feel free to come down. I'll be wearing my blue CU baseball cap.

Just make sure you don't go if you already know the result of the game.

Re the last post:  We're watching the Sunday game live at 2PM.  So if you know who won in advance, I'd like to hire you as my stockbroker!

Ummm, my post was an attempt, perhaps a bad one, at a joke.

I figured it was a joke, but try organizing an event at a bar when the game was already played, while trying to keep the result a secret.  it is no laughing matter!!  (Although I note that once again, we pulled it off without a hitch.)
