Tuesday's lacrosse match at No. 3 Duke should be close. North Carolina (2-6) went up 6-0 on the Dookies Saturday before succumbing 11-8.
Looks as if there's no Gametracker, no video feed, no radio if I'm reading the Big Red site correctly. (Of course, if cornellbigred.com makes no mention of multimedia coverage, that could mean one of two things - there is no coverage, or there is). The Duke also lists no live media coverage http://www.goduke.com/SportSelect.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=4200&KEY=&SPID=2027&SPSID=25942
Maybe we should chip in for gas money and send someone to Durham with a Blackberry.
Based on what I've heard from Duke contacts, I think there will be live stats available from the Duke Athletics Web site -- although I was told that the forecasted inclement weather could scuttle that. If there are no automatic updating systems up, I'll try to make arrangements to get score updates from folks who'll be making the trip to Durham.
It's possible that weather could get the game moved to one of Duke's turf fields, which is good. Unlike Duke, Cornell almost never plays on grass.
As lax wonks here probably already know, about a week and a half ago Duke lost one of their best defenseman, junior Casey Carroll, to a season-ending knee injury.
I believe there is radio coverage in Ithaca. I believe that Barry Leonard and Howie Borkan are working the game. If that's wrong, it's a change from what I heard after the Army game.
Please, Cornell, if that's true, find a way to string a couple tin cans and waxed string from WHCU over to the nearest fiber backbone.
Peter's right, Barry is going to be down in Carolina for the Duke game. There should be All Access audio tomorrow.
Game underway, Bouloukos wins the faceoff, CU goes up 1-0 on a Mitchell goal.
1-1, duke with an emo goal, cornell fails to convert on an emo
2-1 Cornell
2-2 mid 2nd
Duck Fuke... 3-2 Duke
anymore updates?
Nope, except that it just became halftime. Still 3-2 Duke, McMonagle sounds like he's has some really impressive saves today - as he has all year so far.
You'd think they would put the announcers where they can see the game clock ::screwy::
Lewis ties it up at 3-3 early in the 2nd half
CU up 4-3 on mithcell's 2nd
Yes! 4-3 Cornell. Mitchell from Siebald - 12:09 left in the 3rd
5-3!
Duke takes a TO
Seibald puts CU up 5-3, duke time out
And I quote: "SEIBALD!"
3 in a row for Cornell, 8:47 remaining in the 3rd... 5-3 Big Red
CU loses the faceoff, duke scores right away.
Boloukus (sp?) answers off the next faceoff
And I quote: "SEIBALD!"
This doesn't suprise me at all. He was easily the most noticeable player on the field during the Army game.
JOE B!!!!!!! 6-4.
lot of offense all of a sudden, huh?
Zash answers on patient duke offense, 6-5 CU
On a side note, it's taken me about four minutes to let my computer load the athletics website's ads, deal with them, and work to the point where I can find the All-Access link. Sigh.
Finally got the lax link open...LGR!
Cornell with a man-up coming
gets a couple shots but Duke gets possession back (possession back to Cornell, all even)
Duke ties it up with an athletic shot
3rd qtr ends
6-6
Mitchell puts Cornell up 7-6
Mitchell! 7-6 Cornell!
Mithcell again, 7-6 cornell. duke wins the faceoff
Pittard, 8-6 CU
10:52 left in the quarter... Duke wins the faceoff again
Duke scores, 8-7, about 10 minutes left... Cornell gets the faceoff this time
Pittard 9-7 CU
A deflected pass ended up on Pittard's stick ("somehow, someway").
Said 9:04 is the time of the goal, so I assume that's 5:56 remaining.
Edit: Cornell wins the faceoff
Haswell, 10-7 CU unassisted. Cornell will probably settle in if they get the ball again.
or not, Pittard goal on a transition play off a McMonagle save.
Btw, anyone else notice that Duke is 2nd in the poll, 5th in computer rankings, and 21st in RPI?? Gee.
Cornell better hope that... if we beat them... PITTARD! :-) 11-7 Cornell
anyway... if we beat them, that they recover and move up in RPI later on.
Why don't they send someone down to check the darn clock :-P
It's over!
Game over, Cornell wins! :-D
Woohoo! :-D
It's over!
End of game surprised the hell out of our announcers. 11-7 final, cornell.
Great against the 2nd rated Blue Devils. Guess I should finish up some work before the end of the day. Way to go Red!
An inspiration for the Cornell teams playing this weekend. LGR.
Very, very impressive win for the Big Red. They really did the program proud today. Let's hope there's no letdown against Yale on Saturday.
Life is good.
The announcers -- Barry Leonard, Howie Borkin -- seemed breathless at times, they were dropping notes and forgetting their places, they didn't get the time on all the goals (guess they couldn't see the scoreboard and the weather was raw), the line quality was mediocre, the engineer working the pots back in Ithaca was slow on the uptake ... but it was still great to be able to listen live as we took down Duke. In fact, awesome, given the conditions. Maybe the underlying tension of the game contributed just a mite.
And best of all on this audiocast -- no dropped video frames. This one was worth the money.
Goddamn, this is great.

I don't think Barrry and Howie were broadcasting from a press box. Howie mentioned that they were going to be in the stands. They mentioned a few times that they could not see the clock. I assume they must have been at a spot where they could hook up their equipment (they may have been on the phone braodcasting back to Ithaca as in the old days), but had no good place to put notes, etc. The "out-of-town" scores and some stats were being texted to them from Ithaca. Considering the weather, the "facilities" and everything else they were dealing with, I thought it was a great job.
Of course with a win, if they had just grunted their way through it, it would have sounded great. Terrific win for Cornell.

Let's hope you post the same msg on the main forum twice this week weekend.

Check out the Duke d-man to the right of the picture. Boulukos's aim ain't great, but geez.
--"Where do you want us to put this rusty old metal file cabinet?"
[CHONK]
--"Oh, I'm sorry Sir, I didn't see you there. I didn't mean to hit you with it. Geez, the corner of this thing is jagged."
--"Dude, that guy didn't even flinch. It hit his head."
--"Are you alright, man?"
[Frozen smile]
--"He's not even blinking."
--"Leave him alone, man. Hey, do any of you people know who this guy is? I think something's wrong with him!"
[Muffled voice from inside neighboring office] --"That's Hillel. Don't worry about it. He's fine."
--"But he's bleeding I think."
--"Really, he'll be fine. That's what happens to him sometimes."

[Q]"What cost us in the fourth quarter was some defensive breakdowns," Duke head coach Mike Pressler said. "We had three key blunders in a row on defense and they capitalized on them.... We only gave up two goals in the first half, but the key was that we gave up nine goals in the second half. Defensive gaffes and blunders really let us down."
"We didn't play well on the offensive end," Pressler said. "We won the faceoffs, we stayed out of the penalty box, but we threw too many balls away. We weren't in sync today."[/Q]
How DARE he not acknowledge the opponent. Someone once said, "To not acknowledge another team's efforts, even marginally and how they affected your own team's performance, sorry I disagree with that," and "It's poor form to not tip your cap to the guy that gave you a run for your money in a pitched battle. Poor sportsmanship is another way to say it."
::rolleyes:: ::rolleyes:: ::rolleyes:: ::rolleyes:: ::rolleyes:: ::rolleyes::
Well, I still disagree.
Wooo!!!!!!! Go Big Red Lax!!!
:-D
So I guess the phrase "phrase removed" is the newest spambot magnet?
