ok stuck at home just got home from work... I'll start this - got ithaca radio on
Harvard clobbers Datrmouth 10-1 Jason Moy says Harvard shoo-in for the NCAAs and Colgate has to win 2 to go....
WEOS.org is up with the broadcast.
Doesn't shoo-in imply a slight chance they won't make it when in fact they are now certainly in?
True but he used wording that made me think that is all - altho pressed in pre-game interview Jason would not say where he thought Cornell would end up
John Murphy is the ref
While we wait for the puck to drop, it seems appropriate to note that at the half it's #1 UConn 31 #16 Albany 30
12:44 left in the first, no score.
Michigan 1 MSU 1
11:30 to go in first - no score colgate is playing top two lines a bit more than the others so far
I'm not sure whether it is a classic trap or left wing lock or whatever, but Colgate is definitely using some sort of neutral zone clogging system.
As I type that "They look like the Devils of the mid 90's"
::yark::
TV time - no penalties high tempo game teams feeling each other out according to announcers
6:40 left, no score.
PENALTY OBYRNE
Holding against Winchester, should have been matching minors for diving.
Colgate to the PP.
does anybody know a good password for the cornell hockey webcast?
does anybody know a good password for the cornell hockey webcast?
Sure, just give me your credit card number ::rolleyes::
EDIT: http://elf.elynah.com/read.php?1,90068 should give you all the info you need
Cornell lucky on first shot of pp help from post - Glover a block and McKee several good saves just off crease by McKee so far
4:10 in first pp killed
Penalty Killed, 4 mins left in the first.
Penalty to Colgate, this was called by the Assistant Ref.
LGR!
Cornell on PP called by asst ref - behind play - Tyler Burton off
if i don't get directv and am not subscribed to all-acess, does that mean there is no way i can have video?
1:10 left in the PP, 2:05 in the period.
40 - 33 for SUNY Albany 15 mins left
[Q]Dartmouth clobbers Harvard 10-1 [/Q]
you mean vice versa right
PP over, but Colgate heads right back to the box.
49.1 seconds left in the first.
Another Colgate penalty
End of 1, no score.
Cornell will have 1:11 on a PP to start the second.
Yes - edited to fix - thx
if i don't get directv and am not subscribed to all-acess, does that mean there is no way i can have video?
That's correct.
:`(
but thanks
1 period down. Colgate is outhitting us and they have a very aggressive forecheck, OTOH, we look more generally skilled and I think it started to show at the end of the period. Have to carry that into the second.
Let's Go Red!
yeah colgate looked aggressive on the forcheck and are clogging the neutral zone well. there should have been another boarding call during the pp. mckee has made some SWEET saves.
also, the colgate pp when you look at the replay was teh right call. OB pushed and then tugged on the jersey while the gate player was leaning -> penalty everytime
LGR!
the fans are VERY loud. papers looked great before the game as the background for the commentators :-D
LGR!
also, the colgate pp when you look at the replay was teh right call.
It definitely was, but I think the Colgate player hammed it up more than necessary. The Ref didn't make the call until he hit the ice.
Minn 1 St Cloud 0
Announcers on WEOS mention how there was a big cheer when they announced the Uconn-Albany sqweakball score.
Matt Moulson gave props to the Lynah Middle East sign :-)
molson cracked up the tv announcers by telling them he loved the "lynah middle-east" sign :-D
BC 0 Maine 0 end 1st
The 2nd period is underway.
Minn 2 St Cloud 1
MSU 2 Michigan 1
A PP chance drifts just wide of the net, PP over.
Moulson shot, good glove save by Dekanich.
17 left in the 2nd.
O'Byrne hits the post :-(
Post for O'Byrne 0-0 still.
Minn 2 St Cloud 2
MSU 2 Michigan 1
can hear the faithful pretty clearly :-)
Cornell to the PP again, a check from behind that was 5 minutes against Cornell last weekend.
2 min PP for Cornell, 13:49 left in the 2nd.
BitZ GOAL!!!
MOULSON!!!
EDIT: Bitz on the goal. 1-0 Cornell on the PP goal. Moulson and Scott with the assists at 6:49 of the 2nd.
Bitz from Moulson and Scott on the PP!
1-0 Big Red!
11:50 break for time out 1 - 0 Cornell
hell of a shot by bitz :-D
The announcers on the weos radio have been off on the uconn/albany score...they haven't even been close the last couple of times they announced it...
LGR
Colgate goalie makes a great save - hearing Gleed's name on several blocked shots and Mugford a lot of pressuring on puck so far
A couple good chances for Cornell, 9:30 left in the 2nd.
CU going on the PP.
Shots are 20-12 in favor of Cornell
Moulson misses a wide open net.. announcers say it was deflected.
BC 1-0 on a SHG
BC 2-0
Bentley 2 Mercyhurst 1 9:20 3rd
kibbles and bitz and bitz and bitz, kibbles and bitz and bitz and bitz :-D
end of 2, 1-0 cornell
End of 2 periods. Cornell 1 Colgate 0
Cornell sounding like the usual team this season with lots of chances, but just can't finish. Dekanich playing well it seems.
the wide open net that was missed was an amazing play by #5 (maine?) for colgate to deflect it away.3
St Cloud 4 Minn 2
Mercyhurst ties it at 2
Can I get a score update from anyone??
Wow. That period was all Cornell - except for when it was Dex. That guy is earning his GOY plaque tonight. It is a shame that the score is only 1-0; we could easily be challenging the Harvard score.
I love the way the play is going but a one goal game is always nerve-jangling.
Keep it up, Cornell. I want to make the trip to Albany tomorrow. Let's Go Red!
Can I get a score update from anyone??
1-0 Cornell, 2d intermission.

scroll up three or four posts ::snore::
1-0 Cornell after two
5-2 St Cloud
Minnesota yanks their starting goaltender
Now 5-3
Let us keep up the domination. We are really taking the play to them.
Hey my video just stopped anyone else
my video died as well...
Mine too. And I just bought the damn thing for this game since I'm sick and can't make the trip up. Now I know what you've all been complaining about all season.
Mine is dead too. How can they possibly mess this feed up?
me too, hopefully they'll get it back up :-/
Maine gets a ppg, 2-1 BC
St Cloud comes right back and makes it 6-3.
penalty on Mugford. PP for Colgate
The Allaccess audio feed is working so we can work with that until the video comes back.
of all times for the feed to die, it had to be the start of the third period
My video is deader than a doornail.
Has anyone called to let CSTV know it's down?
any video yet?
nope
Trying....
scsu 6 MN 4 still 2d pd....
MSU 2 Michigan 1 in the 3rd
St Cloud 6 Minnesota 4 :-)
BC 2 Maine 1 end 2nd
Bentley 2 Mercyhurst 2 in OT
CSTV audio is also down now as of 10:02. Burn.
Less than 15 minutes left in the 3rd, Still 1-0.
I still have audio...
Some rough work on the PWR with 33/22/11:
If Cornell Wins tonight and tomorrow, likely 6th and a spot in Albany
If Cornell Wins tonight and loses tomorrow, likely 8th wherever Minnesota is
If Cornell loses both and Harvard wins the ECACHL, likely 15th with Wisconsin
If Cornell loses both and Colgate wins the ECACHL, likely 14th with BU
If Cornell loses tonight and wins tomorrow, likely 8th/9th with Minnesota
This assumes current leaders win and tomorrow's games play to seed, which is highly unlikely :)
yeah i have audio too
Gleed limps off.... ::worry::
12:19 to go.
Gave CSTV a call. They "need to notify their tech department." ::nut::
11 minutes left in the 3rd.

Ok, only have audio here and just vaguely heard something about him leaving the ice (to the bench) with injury.
I had video for a second
Abbott to the box after it appeared Murphy swallowed the whistle.
9:27 left in the 3rd.
My Dad is at the game and sent this email at 10:01pm.
One of the abbot twins just had a huge collision behind McGee and lost both gloves and went straight to the locker room. I think he broke something.
Anybody hear that?
I can't even escape the Clarkson band in my house. Damn Them!!!

He was pulled down from behind and crashed into the boards. No call.
minnys 5th goal was with 0.4 seconds left in the second!
I think Potulny has a hat trick after 2. ::uhoh::
McKee struggles with an easy shot, Colgate just misses the net with the rebound.
Don't think Chris Abbott was hurt...He is back on the ice, I think.
5+ minutes left in the game.
I really worry about our low goal production, vs. a red-hot Sucks team that scored 10 goals today. ::help::
anyone have video back?
Cam Abbott called for an obvious hook. He needs to be better than that.
5:12 left in the 3rd.
ANyone got video? My feed has shit the bed. Cornell still playing well, despite the penalty?
Got another message from my Dad:
Both abbots are playing so I guess nothing broke except one's in the sin bin.
Big stop by McKee on burton! 23 seconds left in the PP, 3:22 left in the 3rd.
::twitch::

During the intermission, Wodon made it sound like the high score was a case of Devine and Dartmouth just not showing up tonight, not necessarily Harvard becoming amazing.
But yeah, 10 goals is scary no matter what excuses you can create.
I am watching the TV broadcast. Cornell has let Colgate back into the game with penalties.
3:35 left, not 3:22
But yeah, 10 goals is scary no matter what excuses you can create.
Well, they are Dartmouth students and it is St. Patrick's Day. . .
Colgate called timeout presumably to rest their top line for the PP time.
Penalty killed, good play by Gleed...
2:48 left in the 3rd, faceoff in Cornell zone.
any video?
2:15 left faceoff at about center ice.
MSU 3 Michigan 1 very late in the 3rd
Seminoff takes an AWFUL penalty and Colgate gets essentially a 6X4 with 1:48 left in the game.
Dekanich to the bench with 1:20 left
Under a minute, Dekanich still in!!!
Dekanich never left, 39.9 seconds left faceoff in Colgate zone.
This is torture listening on the radio...
let's go red
24 seconds left, Cornell zone faceoff
Cornell takes a timeout.
Schafer takes a TO to get the coverage set.
I cannot agree more...
What should we do, as a group, to let the CSTV folks know of our disappointment for losing the video feed for the entire decisive third period?
Pegs ENG YEAH !!! we Win
What should we do, as a group, to let the CSTV folks know of our disappointment for losing the video feed for the entire decisive third period?
demand reliability or threaten a boycott for next season
Pegs puts it in the empty net with 12 seconds left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GOAL
Pegs!
worst announcers ever!!
GOOOAAAALLLLL!!!!!
That is game.
2-0 CU.
McKee shutout.
Bring on Sucks. It's time for revenge.
This should guarantee a spot in the tournament for Cornell :)
MSU 4 Michigan 1 Final
St Cloud 6 Minnesota 5 in 3rd
BC 2 Maine 1 in 3rd
Bentley 2 Mercyhurst 2 with 5 to go in 1st OT
16+ left in Minnesota, still 6-5.
This guarantees a bid to the NCAAs as I recall all the odd scenarios with Cornell out of the tournament required us to lose twice. However, the ECACHL will only get two teams in this year...seems kinda odd since last year the league seemed weaker as a whole.
5+ minutes left in the game.
I really worry about our low goal production, vs. a red-hot Sucks team that scored 10 goals today. ::help::
I was able to watch about 2/3rds of that game. Dartmouth played no team defense and anything that touched a Harvard stick found a hole. If you watch the highlights of all the goals it seems like most of them are a Harvard player going one on one against a Dartmouth guy or getting a break away, throwing something in the general direction of the net, and having the Dartmouth goalie shepherd it into his net.
Not saying we'll beat Harvard, but it will be a very diffent game than Harvard/DC.
solid game from both teams, colgate just couldnt get much going. great game for mckee. seems like the pp has found the ability to use the forward in the slot play. it worked for bitz :)
very entertaining hockey game. now to see if we can go tomorrow
An odd third period for Cornell but good enough to survive. They didn't generate much but smothered Colgate's chances in the offensive zone. Colgate's PP was essentially useless - they spent most of the time chasing the puck behind Dekanich's net. Mugford's almost shorty was some awsome, strong work and Pegs' shorty was great. First, a clean tip to clear the zone then he got on his horse to chase the puck down the boards followed by a perfect flick into the center of the net. Beauty.
Cornell was the better team in all three periods even if the third period wasn't exactly the game they want to play. They still kept Colgate from really threatening much. No rebounds, few clean looks. The only scoring chances were less dangerous than they first appeared. Player of the game still goes to Dekanich, though. What a great game.
In the end, enough to win and enough skill shown to make me feel very good about tomorrow. And McKee kept the shutout, so Bill Howard will be happy. (Probably.)
See y'all in Albany tomorrow. I have to head over to the roll call thread.

5+ minutes left in the game.

The latest CSTV fiasco has sealed it. Even if we get sent to Freaking North Dakota, I'm going! Our local sports bar couldn't get any hockey feeds; they tried CSTV, fox sports net, and NHL games on their satellite dish. Also, because of March Madness wouldn't give us our usual table, They have wireless and we tried watching the 2nd period on Cornell Some-Access on a computer, but it was a mac, small screen and choppy (but the commercials were just fine) and we couldn't hear the audio and game tracker was 3 periods behind. So we came up to the lab for the 3rd period. No video, PC or Mac, but at least audio. Now I know what it is like to be huddled around a radio in the 1940's. :-(
But Cornell won. that is all that matters. And I get to go through this aggrevation again tomorrow. So next week, when I'm trapped on a plane I'm writing a nice long letter to CSTV and Cornell athletics. This is UNACCEPTABLE, and CSTV can't blame this one on Cornell.
7-6 SCSU over Minnesota. 72 sec left, time out.
My recent email to the C$TV folks:
I am a college hockey fan and subscriber to your Cornell All-Access plan as I also am a 2002 Cornell University alum.
I enjoyed the first two periods of play of tonight's ECAC semifinal game vs. Colgate via your video feed. However, the third period was not available to me at any time, despite numerous attempts to reconnect and view the video feed.
Myself and large number of Cornell hockey fans are paying a fee to use this service. We have not received the service expected, and this is unacceptable. I expect that tomorrow night's championship game will be available for me to watch with no problems. At the very least, this is a disturbing trend in your video service that has happened before. Those among my CSTV subscribing group who cheer Cornell hockey are prepared to boycott your "services" (disservices) next season. Please reassure your paying customers that you are taking steps to ensure this kind of interruption does not occur again in the future. Thank you.

Shouldn't we want Minnesota to win? Wouldn't they have a better chance of beating UND tomorrow?
Shouldn't we want Minnesota to win? Wouldn't they have a better chance of beating UND tomorrow?
I posed that same question in the Other Scores thread.
I agree with you, but it is hard not to cheer against Minnesota :)
I agree with you, but it is hard not to cheer against Minnesota :)
Can't argue with that. ::nut::
CSTV could care less. they only broadcast sports like hockey on web-feeds because they have you. They are in with schools for football and basketball, and one IVY school having a few hundred fans drop off hardly qualifies as even a nuisance.
I'd love better service, but I have no expectation of it.
Good luck getting any attention during hoops tourney time........
I think we should stick with the Red Jerseys tomorrow. No reason to take chances with any that are unproven in Albany ;-)

From USCHO...
Meanwhile, Cornell sets its sights on its second straight ECACHL tournament championship. When asked about Harvard's having scored 18 goals in its last two games, Schafer smiled and joked, "I'm hoping they've used them all up."
Cornell netminder McKee replied with a far steelier glare and tone.
"They're playing us tomorrow."
