Since we split out the forums, lax has been getting definitely less attention. So I just want to remind anyone who may be around that there's All Access lacrosse video as the men's lax team is hosting Army right now. 3-1 Cornell after the 1st quarter.
And feel free to comment on my thread in the Other Sports forum.
That is all... please don't yell at me :-P
Okay, the feed died. Does anyone know Bill Howard's cell number? Or anyone at the game. So they can go bang on the press box for us? It worked last night :-P
Video back up... and I found some contact #s for the radio station if it happens again.
score update?

my bad.
I'm not allowed to post lax scores on here anymore or I'm gonna be yelled at and tossed into my very own, special, newly created "solitary" "forum". ;-)
Bump to note that Men's lax hosts Lehigh today at 4. It's easy to forget about midweek games. Video should be provided by all-access.
It sets up as a bit of a trap game before the big Duke showdown next week. Game chatter should be posted to the other sports forum.
The laxers beat Lehigh* 12-3 and are now 4-0 on the young season. They travel to North Carolina to take on Duke next Tuesday.
* Lehigh's teams are known as the "Mountain Hawks." They were the "Engineers" until 1995, but fell prey to the same movement that turned UMass-Lowell into the "Riverhawks" and RPI and Miami-Ohio into the "Redhawks" (although RPI gets some credit for at least keeping the "Engineers" name for their hockey and football teams). If you need to change your nickname to get rid of something that people might have found offensive (I think Lowell and Miami were previously both the "Indians"), I suppose that's fine, but couldn't you at least come up with something that doesn't sound like everybody else's new nickname?
Actually, the change at Lehigh was made solely for marketing putrposes, i.e. "Lehigh is more than just Engioneering."
The story goes that some consultant saw hawks flying over South Mountain in Bethlehem as he was driving to the Lehigh campus and came up with the name "Mountain Hawks" from that. However, what that person saw were most likely turkey vultures, which commonly soar over South Mountain. ::nut::
BTW, the name change really pissed off a lot of alumni, and Lehigh saw contributions drop drastically for a while.
I don't think anyone is really offended by Engineers. It's just an image thing for schools that want to be more than just engineering schools.
Miami was the Redskins. Lowell was the Chiefs. While I can see why the former might be considered offensive, getting upset about the latter seems ridiculous.

Have you ever eaten with one?
Now, "Lehigh Turkey Vultures" would have been original!

Have you ever eaten with one?[/quote]Yeah, every day. You got a problem with that!:-)

Or something that isn't very similar to an established nickname of another team in your own league...right, Dartmouth?
Anyone going to the duke game?
Bump for today's game versus Yale, just started... go to the Other Sports forum for the thread.
Bump.
Game starts shortly from Franklin Field, site of Cornell's last Ivy loss in 2004. Penn coming off a 13-8 loss to Harvard last week.
Bump. For today versus Dartmouth (1 PM)
