Title: Two more Heps titles revisited
Post by: nyc94 on March 11, 2006, 02:06:08 AM
I completely missed it a few weeks ago but the women won their fifth straight indoor Heps title and the men won their second in a row (and third of last four years).

The Cornell Men's and Women's track teams both defended their outdoor Heps titles last weekend.  It's the fourth straight outdoor title for the men and fifth straight for the women.  Counting indoor track, the women have won 10 straight Heps titles and the men have won seven of eight.

Really dumb questions:

1) Do we always host the Heps?
2) Why?

The outdoor heps at least were at Penn this year. I don't know about indoor.

Indoor was at Dartmouth this year.  I think there was a time when Cornell hosted indoors every year because Barton was "the only eight lane indoor track in the Ivy League".  Eventually the other schools got pissed.  Or that might be urban legend.

There was a time--back in the day--when it was held at Barton every year.  The Princeton and Dartmouth indoor facilities did not yet exist, and I can't recall how many lanes Yale's Coxe Cage has.  But Coxe had essentially no seats.  Whether the others got pissed or just decided they should have decent indoor track facilities is something I can't answer.
