Dartmouth 5, Yale 1
Hahvahd 1, SLU 5
Colgate 0, QU 3
Quinnipiac is making quite a run... if they upset the 'Gate, we get Hahvahd in Albany if we advance they manage to get their act together...
I know it's down the road, but still interesting to ponder
I think I posted on USCHO after the first Q game that I expected to see them in Albany before the decade was out. Didn't expect it to be this soon though.
Lot of hockey to play though. Anyone know how the crowd was at Colgate? Are they helping their team at all?
I'm not surprised to see Q win one (I picked Colgate 2-1), but I *am* surprised to see them control the game so thoroughly and shut 'Gate out. I don't know if Gate come out flat, or if Q came out flying feeling they had something to prove - according to the USCHO reports, sounds like both.
Still not sure if I expect Q to win this series, but they sure brought their odds from "small chance" to "good chance".
Sucks-SLU... well, I did *not* see that one coming. Harvard was on their typical late season/post season tear. And SLU has been mediocre for weeks. Including last week against Brown when the save percentage was probably in the 80s at best. No idea what happened there, but I don't mind being wrong. :-D
I am thinking Q will take the series and SLU, Yale might force a 3rd game, and I dunno if Clarkson will force a 3rd game with us (hopefully not).
Question... Is there reseeding after the QFs?

Yes. There's no set bracket; the highest remaining seed will play the lowest remaining seed in the semis.

Yes
The only round they dont reseed for is the finals. :-}

Yale's playing that series without their leading goal scorer, Boucher, who was left at home and is reportedly suspended.
People on the SLU USCHO thread are scratching their heads about Harvard's no-show.
I gues we can say that the ECAC chose wisely with Qpc. This is a little bit reminiscent of UVM, who joined the league in the mid-70's and almost immediately got to the Gahden.

If the top seed in the semis is upset isn't the winner of the other semi considered the home team?

I suspect so. And it matters in at least two ways: last line change and choice of uniforms (which usually means the lighter camo).
Slightly OT: for my edification, are there other advantages to being designated the home team, even on neutral ice?

In Albany there can be advantages or disadvantages depending on the weather and the ushers. Last year (or was it the year before) the ice was melting in certain areas because the sun streamed in when the top of the aisle curtains weren't kept closed. I don't remember which end of the ice had the mush. They certainly won't make that mistake again.::rolleyes::
Likewise in some arenas, the bench and penalty box locations can be of advantage. (Hoping for some educational thread drift as I can never remember bench location trivia.:-) )
and there is that little thing known as "Last Change"

At the Gahden, there was the big advantage that the home team got the Bruins' end of the ice. In the first and third (and all overtimes), that meant they got the "short skate" off the bench and into the offensive zone, because of bench configuration. This advantage was exascerbated because the Gahden ice was small and there was a very small zone between the red and blue lines.
At Albany, the bench configuration is symmetrical, and this doesn't exist.
