so who is going to a or both games?
We are driving from buffalo. I will be postcall so likely sleeping on the way. Luckily I have the rest of the weekend off.
Meeting friends at both games - total of 5 going friday and 4 saturday. Likely going to pinhead susans after the onion game.
cya all there. oh, we got our tix from cornell.
LGR!
I'll be there with karlmoose and cmcwo44
Have tickets gone on sale yet at the cornell box office? If so, do you think there will still be any left. Im looking for two to both games.
My wife and I will be at both games. As of last week there were lots of tickets left at Cornell.
Drew
I'll be there with a group of about 8. We'll be getting there when we get there.
And how.
Buy your Union tickets ASAP. The RIP game will have seats available at the door!!!!! They sell out once a year for the Little Red Freakout! ::screwy::
Janice and I will be there for Saturday at Union. The last time I missed Cornell at RIP was when I was in the hospital. But weather permitting I will miss you all on Friday:`(
do they sell Union tickets at the door? i'm expecting to go to that game but i don't know with whom and how many.
heh heh B-]
I should be at both games ::rock::
When do the tickets go on sale at the cornell box office?
They do, but this game frequently sells out and you take your chances looking for apares out front. They'll take a credit card and hold at the will-call. Ask for grandstand sections 5,6,or 7.
Oh yeah - they charge an extra 2 bucks for us. $10 each.::rolleyes::
myself and Big Joe will be there for RPI... not union though
I'm in, with wife, child and friend.

Will be at both with my dad.
Is anyone up for meeting before the RIP game? I don't know anything about downtown Troy (other than the armpit metaphor), but since my dad and I are arriving from different places on Friday, it might be nice for whomever gets there first to meet somewhere with friendlies rather than have to hang out outside the rink.

mike k, I got tickets from CU. they are open 10-4 (?). not sure if they are open tomorrow. just have them held at will call and you will be golden.
also, I suggest people get tix from cornell and will call them - buying onion tix should be fine at the door, but then you wont be in the cornell section :)
ebilmes, dbilmes, and 2 others driving from CT. Got tix through Cornell, so we'll be with whoever else got them that way.
i'll be at both, with the best fans in the world
seated in cu section both nights
also, I suggest people get tix from cornell and will call them
Except for the time my tickets didn't show up at will call. No other tix available, and I had to talk myself in, then "borrow" some ticket stubs from friends and get my other friends in. ::nut::

also, does anyone know the name of the little italian restaurant that is east of troy on route 7. only a couple minutes up the hill by car. cant remember...
called this morning and Cornell still has a few tickets for Union left. i will be there with my dad (Union alum converted to Cornell Hockey fan) and maybe a few more. this is my dad and my own first non-Colgate away game so show up the ropes.

If you mean literally on route 7, then you may mean Cafe Therese. Sadly Therese closed her restaurant due to construction traffic causing a loss in lunch business.:-(
If you mean the Notty Pine on 15th Street off route 7, then so be it, but that is in Troy. There is (or was) also an Italian restaurant called Two Brothers closer to Troy than Therese was.
marty, i think it was two brothers. but the person I am meeting doesnt know where it is on route 7 and i am not confident enough to tell her. so we are going to browns brewery near the rink
thanks for the info :)
Gonna be there with the Rural Wisconsin Singles Club. Both games.
FYI: At the I-90 East/ 787 North exchange, there is a billboard to the right advertising for the ECAC games. On which one of our guys figure prominently, couldn't look at his arm number though, doing 70.
see ya

We have essentially nothing planned for Saturday until the game. Any recommendations for things to do?

If you can bring a pair of ice skates, there is free outdoor ice skating at the Empire State Plaza, right next to the egg.

I'll be at the Notty Pine before the RPI game.
1. New York State Museum - just south of State Plaza in Albany
2. Children's Museum of Science and Technology - Rensselaer Tech Park, about 5 miles South of RPI in North Greenbush. A lot of fun even tho aimed at kids.
3. Crossgates Mall - Just West of Albany - lots of food, women and a multiplex theater.
Just got my tickets this afternoon for both games by calling the box offices. I asked for the Cornell section for both games, and they said fine. So - hopefully that's where my tickets are when I get them at will call!
I'm from the Albany area, so I'm pretty excited about going home for the weekend AND getting to see the games; they should be good ones. LET'S GO RED! :)
Is anyone heading in the Schenectady direction after the RPI game? I'm staying with my friend at Union college (who doesn't have a car) and I wouldn't mind a ride from a friendly Cornellian :) Otherwise, I'll just take a cab. Thanks!
- Mary
Leaving in a few minutes. See you all tonight!
Will be wearing #2 red with my red Zephyr cap, in case any of you want to take a few shots at me in the parking lot. :)
Cheers,
Kyle
does anyone have driving directions they recommend from ithaca to onion? also, good dinner ideas?
I would go 79 east to Whitney point.
Take a left onto 206 at the Hess station and follow this to Bainbridge.
At Bainbridge get on I-88 and start, and keep heading East.
When 88 ends and joins i90, get onto rt 7 or rt 337. (don't get onto 90)
You want to be on 337 heading north or east this will put you on i-890 for like a mile before you get off, at which point you will be in the lovely town of Schenectady. (The final few turns to Union you will need to figure out, though i think there are signs)
Either way now that you are in Schenectady you will want to make sure the doors are locked, and don't make eye contact with the locals. Actually it isn't that bad but the town has seen better days. For reasons unknown most of the locals do seem to walk with a limp.
As for places to eat, Brandywine Diner was always a good place to go but you are on your own for directions though it isn't too far from Union. Another option is Gepettos. This is on the North side of campus across from one of the school gates. I may end up going there just since it is easily found.
hope this was marginally helpful.
LGR!
