Interesting quotes from USCHO:
It's important, but it's also a byproduct of us doing a good job in the ECACHL. I don't get caught up in it until, hopefully, at the end of the season we've won it.
and
You know what? It's an amazing thing, and I might be the dumbest guy in the world, but it has no bearing on what I do. Our goal is to win an ECACHL championship. It's not something that I've ever mentioned to the guys since I've been coaching at Dartmouth for nine years.
I can see Gaudet making that comment after just losing the Ivy title, but even so, I think it makes the point that others have said: The Ivy title only matters if you can't win something more important.
It doesn't matter that much, but just the same, *knock on wood* I'd like to see us win a 5th straight one.
Cornell's retention would keep the Ivy League title out of the hands of the undeserving.
Gaudet just plain sucks. He is so unbelievably arrogant and acts like such a jackass every time I see Dartmouth play. In turn, his team resorts to busch league tactics and embarrasses themselves.
So, Gaudet called a time out with 30 seconds left, down two goals, while Dartmouth had a penalty. There are only two possible things he could have told his team.
1) "Alright, nobody do anything stupid. I know you're frustrated."
2) "Alright, go out there and try to hurt someone."
Seeing that a fight broke out pretty much on top of McKee after this, my guess is #2.
Im not positive but im pretty sure it was cornell who called the timeout.
Just thought you'd like to know that Matt Moulson also addressed this subject in a streaming audio interview that is currently up at CSTV.com, and is available here:

Thanks. See you at Lynah tonight!
Plus give us a nice new banner to hang...

It was definitely Dartmouth. You could see Gaudet motioning for it.
I've always said: it's a feather in the team's cap. Not a major goal, but a nice thing to have. Kind of like the Ned Harkness Cup.

I'm sure the people that have posted in this thread know this but for anyone else, either Cornell wins the Ivy title tonight or Harvard takes it in our rink. I think that fact makes it slightly more important than most other years.
