BTW, there's an international hockey chat at http://internationalhockeygang.org/chat/phpMyChat.php3. I've gone there for a some World Championships games, and it's pretty friendly. Fans of a bunch of nations, all able to support their teams without insulting each other.
If the Russia-Sweden women's game is an indication of what will be played during the other games, wear your powder blue leisure suits and Go-Go boots. The piped in music is disco/70's music! ::uhoh::
Yup, "It's raining men" and "YMCA". Give me the Clarkson band playing during play any time!
Obligatory hockey comment (though none of the players with obvious ties to Cornell): Sweden wins 3-1, all 3 goals were on the powerplay.
This Swiss goaltender is putting on a show against the American women. Apparently she was (is?) the starter for UMD Duluth.
1-0 USA right now, with about 35 shots on net.
What a show by both the US Women and the Swiss goalie. She got lit up, but without the goaltender's amazing play, the score would have been 15-0. An utterly dominating performance by the US women. Wow, do they have some talented hockey players! I was truly impressed.
16-0 (?!?!) Canada over Italy and they're pounding Russia now 7-0 at the end of the first. They're coached by Melody Davidson, who's on leave as the head coach of Cornell's women's team. have heard a couple mentions of Cornell in the telecasts.
During the US-Swiss women's game, I saw a familiar face on the bench. I just verified that it was indeed who I thought:

[q]Smith will be assisted behind the bench by Alana Blahoski (St. Paul, Minn.) and Mike Gilligan (Burlington, Vt.).[/q]

Y'know, I thought that was lil' buddy at the time, but I forgot about it.
Updated the above with the Quarterfinals, and I'll also post Wednesday's schedule here:

No Hockey.
Anybody know if the USA/Finland game is being broadcast on the web? I saw that Westwood One has the game on the radio, but I didn't see any links to any radio webcasts.
